BTW, that shop is simply awesome.

Will do, and thanks! !!*ok*!!

Sure you can, just erase that bottom line and you'll find the F7 !*roll-laugh*! ... how embarrassing... I meant to put F7 but E7 was stuck in my head. I don't know my trains very well, I assume there's an E7 that was an older model?

That would be great, thanks! !!*ok*!! I'm turning into the trailer man !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*!

Anyways, here's the latest shots... I've fixed many issues with the shadow maps, added some fake lighting to the drop pits and corrected a few issues I noticed. At this point, it's done. The only thing left is to verify the door signs and to create the LODs.

Basic view of the exterior... I was wondering what the realism side was to my signs, I have D-# (1-10) for door number and then Storage/Drop Pit/Drop Pit/Drop Pit/Stock Only (follows same setup on other side, but in reverse to match doors). Is that silly or does that make sense? I need to some expert help here... *!question!* *!question!*

Now I can see that big.. uh.. never mind... oh look, I found that missing screw!

And one last thing... why does the engine do this??? I notice light creep into various places depending on time of day and angle, etc etc. This even happens with RailSimulators very own models. It doesn't even matter if the model is completely closed or not. !*hp*!

That looks beautiful. I wish I had your level of skill. I have to make a number of maintenance buildings and I can only dream they will turn out like yours.

The E7 is more or less a double-length F7, with 2 engines and 6 axles. You can drive one on the Portland Terminal route.

Depends on how you define "closed" . In this case you have holes for the doors at least , so technically your mesh is not watertight :D . If the floor of you building is a simple box ( more or less , as you do have have slots for the rail and the pits ) and the walls and roof are another box , ( though more complex geometry is used for doors and windows ) and this is simply inserted into the floor , again your mesh is not really not closed or watertight and would allow light bleed.

You are correct, the floor is another mesh entirely. However, I've noticed that light will still creep through an item made of the same mesh. I can see some light get through my ceiling which is the same mesh as the walls. It's more or less a punched in box instead of separate objects. Even producing a simple box will still experience the same lighting issues. Any ideas on how to fix or reduce it?

!*don-know!* I found a few things like this that I could'nt explain or overcome so I just gave up and moved on to other stuff that I needed to update, and made a few more trains instead ... maybe you have better luck .

Hmm, I'll have to try to drag the walls down below the object's center point and see if that reduces or eliminates the light coming through the floor/wall area. I'm wondering if it looks really bad since the walls are 1 meter above the x axis. I'll have to experiment. But, like you said, I'll just have to move on if all else fails.

Do they need an interior or is the basic building structure all you need?

After experimenting with the lighting and making a few minor changes, putting together the LODs and finally doing the last compile, I'm calling this asset done. I'll update my website as soon as I get my new design together, but for those who wish to download it now can do so.

Download the NTF - Greenborough Maintenance Facility ~ 2 MB

Provider: 90000ft
Product: NewEngland
Category: Commercial industrial buildings
Asset Name: NTF - Greenborough Maintenance Facility
Notes: Comes in 3 LODs, no stencil shadow
