Skunk Route in California

Description

Skunk Train Route by David Elsner (dleeboy)

This route is based on the California Western Railroad also called the Skunk Train. It is located in Mendocino County California. It runs from Fort Bragg to Willits California through the Redwood Forest along Pudding Creek and the Noyo River and crosses many bridges.

The railroad was originally built by the Fort Bragg Redwood Company in 1885. It was built to carry coast redwood logs from the dense forests to its lumber mill. On July 1st 1905 the railroad was renamed the California Western Railroad and Navigation Company. In 1904 passenger service was added. On December 11th 1911 the route was completed to its total length of 40 miles. Roughly following the Noyo River to interchange connection with the Northwestern Pacific Railroad in Willits California. On December 19th 1947 the railroads name was shortened to the California Western Railroad. On December 17th 2003 the California Western Railroad was bought by Sierra Railroad. Today the Skunk Train is owned and operated by Mendocino Railway.

This route is based on the Skunk Train Scenic Railroad. It starts at Fort Bragg California and runs to Willits California for a total of 40 miles. This route is very scenic and crosses many bridges. There is a midway stopping point at Northspur in this route. From there the train can be turned around to go back to Fort Bragg or head on to Willits. At approximately mile 28 the route goes up a mountain with many switchbacks. After it reaches the summit it heads on to Willits.

This route uses 10 payware routes the list is in the readme. The freeware assets are supplied at MediaFire.com. This route can be run without all of the payware routes but you will have a lot of milk bottles all over the place but it will run. For this route to look like what I intended for it to look like you must have all 10 payware routes. I want to thank; Ausrail,Krellnut,buzz456 and artimrj for their help in making this route it would not be what it is without their help.
