NEC Thank You!

I just wanted to thank you all for your comments on the NEC. Very much appreciated and we will work on any niggles tomorrow. As many of you have suggested this is by far our fastest selling DLC so far. As such a big proportion of our friends are in the US now we want to get it right for you. More news soon. *!!thnx!!*

A big thanks from me as well. I have had a lot of fun with it so far, and I expect it will be one of my favorites for some time to come.

A big thank you from a quite satisfied user as well! The route is great, and I think you've done an EXCELLENT job on the signaling system in particular (which I have on good authority that it is extremely close to real life). This jumped overnight to being my favorite Railworks route. Thanks!

I am not able to enjoy this fabulous route because Raildriver does not work with it. Why not? Can this be corrected?

Nice route....but not much sightseeing at 120 MPH!! !*roll-laugh*!

One thing, have the 'collision' errors been corrected...in the last two scenarios....yet? If not, any idea when that patch might be coming through? The first two run flawlessly!

Great frame rates too! !!*ok*!!

Thanks,

Me too *!sad!* !*not-ok*! I refuse to play any train simulation without my raildriver (6 years old, over than 8K hours played). *!greengrin!*

Reverser, Throttle and Independent (Train) Brake are not working with NEC, only Auto Brake (Loco) works. Other buttons seem to be fine.

Anything with scripted controls is going to have a hard time with Raildriver - scripted stuff works by adding another layer on top of the basic controls, and having the keyboard/F4 interface work on top of that. Raildriver unfortunately goes straight to the basics, and ends up fighting with the script.

There are two ways I can see around this

* Try and write the script to not fight with Raildriver: more difficult than you think, because a) you can't tell if anyone's using one, and b) the engine might be set up with the expectation the script is going to drive it, and it might do some really odd things if you bypass the script. It's possible for a basic script to let RD take over though, provided you don't touch the keyboard. Note that it's probably not possible for the reverser, but that's less of an issue to set with the keyboard anyway.

* Change the way Raildriver works with the game, so it uses the same thing the F4 cab controls work with - this would be ideal, provided they give us a VirtualReverser control ( and perhaps the buttons ). I don't know who made the Raildriver support.

There is one other thing you can do: IIRC the UKTS Raildriver drivers let you program it to make keypresses; that solves everything because it's exactly the same as using the keyboard then. Not having a RD I don't know anything about it.

Now we just need about 10 more scenarios so I really start enjoying this work of art. !*drool*!

Hi Kali,
Very nice approach with caution :D maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I am used to totally reprogram the console and buttons, and I had some few problems with new functions (like toggle to next/previous vehicle) only existing in the F4 console. Except for one or two, all other functions based on keyboard pressing can be set to the console buttons.
In fact, having Raildriver, I d'ont like (because I don't need) the F4 console, although its bottom part (signal, speed, mark names are wonderful and usefull for some purposes, like shunting). If possible to implement an option to split the F4 in upper and down parts (or even in 3 parts, considering that miscelaneous panel to the right), that would be fantastic! Just dreaming... and suggesting.
As my actual machine is not at home, where I am right now, tomorrow night I'll test reconfiguring Raildriver manually, by pressing keyboards. Great idea! Hope this works...
What a wanna mean is that I can't accept anymore (for now) playing a train simulator with keyboard. I never played a race car simulator or a flyght simulator with keyboard, I always used any appropriate device (steering wheels and pedals for cars, and Saitek devices for flight). That's simple, and desirable to an imersion in simulation.
Moreover, Raildriver has also sensitive feedback for low sounds and rail bumps, I can't drive anymore without it. !*don-know!*
Thanks for now.
Cheers,
Lisboa.

Hopefully they will come with the NECxt version !*roll-laugh*! which will be "Train Simulator 2012 - Ready". The actual version, at least according to the little banner in store page, is only "Train Simulator 2012 - Compatible". *!!wink!!* I noticed this...

BTW, the frame rate is very good indeed. I was afraid it would drop with that detailed and wonderfull scenery around (and far away) the tracks.... !*brav*!

Doug (Heavy Chevy) would be just the man for this. I have all his scenarios and they work flawlessly! !!*ok*!! Well, that is if he has the route yet. *!!wink!!*

Yup been meaning to buy some of his stuff soon. Going to have to get his pack for the default game one of these days. I just want some scenarios that let me drive back and fourth on real time tables nothing fancy. That's all I really want for pretty much every passenger route.

Having the scenarios that come with the product by default actually work without causing an AI crash would be a start. No more purchases from them for me until that happens, and I'll tell you why too; I emailed their support about that issue and got an automated reply which said they were busy with the forthcoming RW 2012 release, now when a company is more focused on shoving the next thing out of the door than they are with sorting out what is already out that people have PAID FOR, they really need to think about their priorities.
