Real World Train Pictures

Grab a rock, have a seat, and talk about the real world of trains.

A handful of my favorites from this winter. One of the most brutal, but rewarding times of year to be out.

Pictures I took while on a surprise chase. It all started in Justin, TX when I saw those ex-SP units which are both SD40-2Ms. I had to get a few more pictures of 'em!

BNSF #5373 leads a fast manifest through Justin, TX. The two ex-SP units were dead.

After driving to catch up to the train, I noticed it started to decrease speed thus meaning it would be stopping in the next town over which was Ponder, TX.
When I drove into the town of Ponder, the train had already stopped so I pulled off the side of the road to capture some pictures of the units.

The train sits in Ponder awaiting a Southbound BNSF Intermodal. The sun was out at the right time for these shots.

The manifest continues on it's journey after the Intermodal passed. These shots were taken in "downtown" Ponder, TX.

The chase leads me to the town of Krum, TX where I had just enough time to drive down to a crossing, park, and snap some shots of the passing train.

The manifest is now going track speed (55 mph.) through Krum, TX. I took this picture on an abandoned loading dock.

I have reached the "end of the line" literally, becuase FM 156 ends right at I-35W. I was able to walk a ways down to get the train going under the highway.

The manifest continues it's way North while going under I-35W in Sanger, TX.

That's about it. Justin to Sanger, TX chase...

I'm assuming your talking about "shicoe30's" pictures. They have much better quality than mine. *!greengrin!*

Near Tate, GA on the Georgia Northeastern RR, a section of switchbacks running about 4% grade to the local quarries, the inspiration for my pet project, lots of first generation geeps in the North GA mountains.
