Reno Roundup a Scenario Set for the Donner Pass Southern Pacific Route v 1.0
This set contains a two part freight shunting scenario, using a short portion of the eastern
end of the Donner Pass route.
In Part 1 you will enter Sparks Nevada Depot
from the east and after a delivery and pickup you will cross the two Main Lines
to Sparks Yard for a final Yard pickup before leaving for Reno. A short trip
to the west will bring you to Reno Yard Tracks, (acutally just sidings to the
east of downtown.) Make one more pickup and we are ready to reverse operations.
Part 2: You will move to the rear engine for the operations that will carry
you back to Sparks Yard. At the Yard you will add the cars ( wagons ) to their
appropriate tracks in the classification area.
Donner Pass has not been very popular due to its long runs and lack of
intermediate facilities. This scenario set avoids these pitfalls by
concentrating on a small area.
75 minutes - Easy to Moderate Difficulty
Only Default rolling stock is believed to be used. This
rollingstock was provided either as a part of the Donner Pass Route or part of the
Railsimulator 2012 standard installation.
Installation:
=======
First obtain and install the route.
This scenario was designed with the "Donner Pass Sothern Pacific" route obtained from the
DLC Steam Store.
Install:
[DP]RenoRoundup.rwp
with RS2012 Package Manager. Find it via the tab on the opening page.
Failure to run a scenario is almost always due to missing or improperly installed rail equipment.
Please inform the author ( see below ) if such is not the case, or you have any
questions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT NOTE:
As with any complex scenario - SAVE OFTEN.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTES: Due to the complex signalling on this route it is entirely possible that
you will have to pass a signal at Danger (Red Aspect.) Remember to
ask permission, but if instructed by the scenario to proceed, move
with care, checking the track for other traffic.
For those of us needing historical accuracy, Double height intermodal and
extended height, tall box cars and refrigerator cars were not able to negotiate
the low clearance tunnels on this route until some of the tunnel roofs were cut through.
Also double ended operations, such as used in this scenario, were not
prototypical for this time period. It is much more likely that a
caboose would be used with multiple runs to accomplish the assigned tasks.
Today such runs are not unusual given crew reduction and the lack of
functional caboose cars in many locations.
======
SUGGESTIONS: To improve the reality of the scenario substitute rolling stock
from your own collection for the default equipment used. RW_Tools by Mike Simpson
can make this job a pleasure.
Special thanks to Tom Pallen & Don Hughes for his beta testing of this scenario.

PS : Sorry New Jersey residents and lovers of fine beaches and countryside. I originally hail
from the New York City area and "dumping on" New Jersey seemed to be a cultural necessity growing up.
