By the 1940s the writing was on the wall that steam was being phased out, so the Kalamazoo Terminal Railway turned to ALCo and purchased its first diesel, a 1000 HP ALCo S2, which was delivered in May of 1948, numbered 1.
With KTR’s new diesel having proved itself a reliable and economic performer, the company ordered 2 more units in early 1949, which were delivered in July as numbers 2 and 3.
A few years later, an ALCo RS-1 was purchased from the Rutland, after only 4 years of service, and placed in service; and in a brief foray away from ALCo, a Baldwin AS616 from the was acquired, followed by another second-hand unit in 1958.
Ever pleased with their ALCos, the company acquired 2 additional S2s, second hand, one from UP, the other from the Grand Trunk in the 1970s-80s.
The 2000s saw another ALCo, sidelined by Pioneer Railcorp in White Pigeon Junction, No. 66, acquired, and placed into service. The 2010s saw 3 final units acquired,
former Claremont & Concord S4 No. 102, then Grand Trunk 8110, and lastly former Southern Pacific S6 No. 1072. The fleet of ALCos continues to soldier on, barring 2 of the lines original units, 2 and 3, which are both today out of service.
Former GTW 8093 (at one time KTR 4) having been reactivated to replace KTR's own No. 3.
This pack includes repaints of Dogmouse's popular ALCo S2, drawn from the Illinois Terminal S2 by Samuel Rockwell, "ET44".
Sounds include horns from the 567 Soundpack by CentralJerseyRailfan and are not claimed as my own, all sounds are from TSC and RWA, simply repacked to go with these units.
Former C&C 102 includes a child object bell, from the MILW ALCo S2 by Michael Calvin, "MadMike1024".
Included in the Kalamazoo ALCo Switchers Pack by "PullmanCar" are:
-Several versions of the Kalamazoo Terminal liveried units (1, 2, and 3 as well as the second-hand 4 (ex-8093) and Chestnut Ridge 11), in 1940s condition with A125 horn, weathered, and the restored livery of KTR 1,
the line's first diesel, a unit which still commands immense pride, and is always kept indoors (hence the indoors no-snow variant for winter). These were based upon the ITM units.
-Ex-UP 1138, a simple reskin of the original UP livery, which I do not claim as my own.
-Ex-GTW 8093, an alteration of the Central Vermont/Grand Trunk Western Maple Leaf skins by Rick Kfoury.
-Ex-GTW 8110/7934, also an alteration of the livery by Rick Kfoury.
-1980s GT 8093, based upon the CV scheme by Rick Kfoury.
-Upjohn's ex-Pickens Railroad ALCo, done by myself.
-Pfizer's ex-Upjohn ALCo, done by myself.
-Fruit Belt ALCo 66, done by myself.
-Ex-Claremont & Concord 102, done by myself.
-Ex-Rutland ALCo 400, based upon the GMRC/Rutland Skin by Rick Grout.
-Ex-SP S6 1072, done by myself from the LukRailAmerica Ventura County S6.
All original aspects are courtesy of their original owners, many of whom are no longer active sadly, and are not considered my own
The RS-1 is the only unit with .geopcdx files that must be copied, and requires the payware RWA Lakeside Route and the GMR variant available on RWA:
