Ok the new site is active. The downloads are not complete yet however. It has become a larger task than I anticipated. We have a pretty big file library full of all that stuff you guys made. So you are going to have to jump through hoops for about another week in order to download some of the files. I have a helper redoing the scenarios and I am redoing the rolling stock. We have a ton of repaints. I have completed all the routes, scenery models and the miscelleaneous sections. They are all on the new website. So you will only have to go to the old website for rolling stock and scenario downloads.

or click on the File Library Link at the top of the forum. This will change once the move is completed.

Only rolling stock and scenarios are there, anything else you try to download will spit out an error 404.

You will see a login link on the home page. You do not have to log in to the site. The login is for admin and helpers. The web site is open to the public and for free as it always was.

The site is run on Joomla! which is a php/mysql driven program. It is a CMS or Content Management System. Our forums are full of information but it is not organized. Usefull information can be weened to the web site so it can be organized in a usable fashion.

If anyone is familiar with Joomla! and has some time to commit to building our Learning Section by weening the good stuff from the forums to the site. PM me. If you do not know how to use Joomla!, it is easy to learn and I will have a vid tutorial showing you exactly how easy it is to do. It just takes time, it is not hard.

I would also like to have sections on reviews and even Opinion Editorials. So if any of you are writers and would like to have your work published here, PM me. We could really use some in depth reviews of freeware and payware items available to us.

So basically I am offering you the ability to become more of a part of the Railworks America community.

My goal is to have the best Train Simulator 2013 only site around. The place anyone using it would want to go.

Actually yes I did, but with some new additions like the download library. That is a seperate module I purchased.

Looks good, and to be honest I'm not missing the old log-cabin look.
I'll start getting used to it and reading the Joomla docs, then I'll be able to contribute in the learning section.
Bob, will the learning section replace or complement the "information center" forums we just started?

Perhaps the information center forums could still be used as a quick reference to useful forum posts.
I think moving information from the forums to the web site would be a herculean task, so this would be a good solution.

Well what you did in the forum so far is nice. Not sure what else you are planning, but I was not going to remove it. This is my reasoning. In the forum any one can comment if they are registered of course, on the website all you get is the info. So if you needed to comment or ask for further help or whatever, you could go to the forum to post. So even if things are duplicated it will be ok. I assume most people go right to the forums, then onlyto the web site to download. I hope to change all of that and have the web site be a vital information center that you would want to check out on your rounds.

Adding articles in Joomla is no harder than posting in a forum. You would nt have to be designing anything. Just cut and paste or type your article in, attach any screenshots, and pick a category for it to go under and hit save. You can even edit or add new items with out going into the admin section. If you have an account on the site, you log in and get EDIT THIS ITEM messages everywhere, or ADD A NEW ITEM HERE messages. So you can do it on the fly.
