4-6-6-4 colour schemes

Hi,

Hoping somebody out there can help me. I am looking to skin (and I know it wont be easy) the RSC Challenger into both a Western Maryland and Clinchfield unit, but I am having a hell of a time getting even half way decent pics to use as a base. Doing a Google image search, even for something as specific as Western Maryland Challenger or Western Maryland 4-6-6-4 includes such wonders as tennis players, the space shuttle, SP GS4's and British Rail class 37 diesels and sod all of what I am actually looking for. The best info I can seem to find is pics of the Lionel models. These show both black with silver smokebox, red cab roof and water filler on the tender, to all black with just a silver smokebox front. Some pics show bottom line of tender lining as a straight line, others with a step. Am really very confused., although not as confused as when searching for pics of the Clinchfield ones. Apart from a handful or fairly poor B&W ones, there is not a lot out there, including in some book sources I have tried (including Robert La Messina's Articluated Locomotives of North America, where I would have thought to find something). Does anybody have something, or a source they can point me to? I would hate to create something and get nothing but criticism cos I didn't get it right.

Dont get me started on tender emblems either... :D

!*cheers*!

Cheers...

I cant quite tell if the tender step in the top pic is an artifact of the photo or as modeled, as I have seen the step on another image, yet is not here.. I am also torn of just what colour. Black just doesn't seem to model realistically; the grey is impressive... I have also seen tender stripes that are only on the sides, not the rear. Aaaauuugghghhh!!!

The only picture I've ever seen is the black and white one. I don't think the prototype had stripes on the back just on the side. They only had 12 (1201 12and they were built by Baldwin not Alco like this model but its a close representative of the real thing. Of course any WM motive power or rolling stock is welcome at this point. I think you will have to take some artistic liberties with these 2 beasts. I think the WM was solid black with gold stripes on the tender. The Clinchfield being of Alco orgin was all black with a graphite grey front.
