I think what you probably mean is it leaves at 2 Mbps and arrives at 50 KBps. Note the upper and lower case b's.

2 Mbps is equal to 256 KBps, which is a little closer to what you're seeing, but it's also equal to 2048 Kbps

Bps = bytes per second

bps = bits per second

It takes 8 bits to equal a byte.

Gotta' watch those b's. *!!wink!!*

ISP's use the lower case b in their advertising to give people the impression they're getting faster connection speeds.

2 Mbps sounds faster than 256 KBps, when in fact it's the same speed.

You're loss of connection speed could be the result of several different factors. I would bet Verizon advertises that you get up to 2 Mbps, which means anything less is within their standards.

Well - I have been around on this planet a day or two or three longer than you. *!!wink!!* *!greengrin!*

I'm quite confident you have a good bit more knowledge about some things than I do; for instance - reskinning. **!!bow!!**

Aren't we getting a bit !**off-top**! ? Once again, my fault. *!embar*!

I know it's been a while, but I am curious if there has been any progress on this? I am still anticipating! *!lol!*

Directly off the Union Pacific Railroad Terms Glossary:

Trims are sorted tracks of cars in a hump yard pulled out of the sorting tracks and coupled to make up outbound trains. A yard "behind on trims" is behind on its outbound train building.

- Trim Lead: Track used to move cars from the bowl (sorting tracks) to the departure yard, where sorted cars are coupled into an outbound train.

- Trimmed: Count of sorted cars built into outbound trains.

Glad to see you're still having fun, Tori! Scenarios? I'm not completely sure, actually. I've taken several stabs at the Chicago Yard route without success, but that's mainly due to the end-to-end track markers. Please don't make that mistake. Also, if you can place signals so as to isolate the yard's various sections from each other and from any mainline pass-throughs it will be possible to have AI switching taking place parallel to the player train's activities.

I'm really happy to know that you're still improving the Allegheny as well. You must be feeling good in your new home?

Great to hear from you again.

P.S.: I obviously missed this thread when it first appeared, so I'll ask whomever winds up completing this amazing yard route to consider my suggestions. Thanks!

Here's a thought about the hump yard problem: if specialized freight cars could be equipped with controllable brakes similar to those of engines, in a free-roam or timetabled scenario could the player become a brakeman taking a trim down the hump? Rumor has it that RSC is considering axing timetabled scenarios and their associated marker, but this effect would still be possible in free-roams that came with a printable work order.

!*don-know!*

How about the route/yard? Is it still being signaled/tracked/tweaked? I was wondering because if it has been abandoned and the files still exist, maybe I could get my hands on them? (beta test or whatever)

***Also, would it be possible to "merge" Sherman Hill with this? (making the track westbound) In my opinion, that would make the most epic route ever!
(It would give our Challenger a good long run!)

Check w/TDHenderson (Trevor); I handed it off to him last year and wouldn't want to hand it out again without his feelings. I don't know if he's added to it or not. In my opinion, there is a serious problem with the concept and that is the plethora of track in that yard and it's all in just a few tiles. Since all track gets loaded when a route loads, it is a terrible system hog. My experience was that moving a single loco in an EMPTY yard saw frame rates below 14 fps. My guess would be that joining it to another route's track would be the camel-back breaker.

I enjoyed laying out that track, but have no time or plans to work on it further.

I am fine if you release the route to another person willing to tackle it.
