Competition is good, it raises the bar for everyone. I think the idea that third party creators are deserting TS2013 like rats from a sinking ship is entirely untrue. Just look at what Paul Godber is creating at Iron Horse House - absolutely superb UK material. But then you add Britkits, Lord Mannu, Oovee (still working on their U-boat), so many others.
I don't know, but I suspect more people are jumping ship from Trainz to RW, given that Trainz is now so far behind RW in the immersion factor. But actually everyone benefits - I met Paul Jackson and he was quite clear that expanding the hobby is good for everyone. Just let me give an example: let's say that a hundred people take up trainsim 'A'. Fifty of them play it a few times, then delete it. Forty of them love it, buy more DLC and everyone who creates DLC for trainsim A is happy. Ten of them decide that they like trainsimming but simulator A sucks, so they buy simulator B to see what that's like. Well, simulator B just picked up ten customers who they wouldn't have had at all if it weren't for simulator A. And some of those ten buy DLC for sim B. And so it goes on. Still following my tortured logic?
I've no problem with Jointed Rails saying what they say, probably with tongue planted in cheek, I hope they prosper and I hope they dip their toe into the RW pool (although it's unlikely I'll admit).
I read a thread at 'another forum' that asked if Americans were giving up on RW. A very sage person posted that their belief was no, Americans are just giving up on negative threads asking if Americans are giving up on RW.
I'll be around in this hobby, with the guys at RSC, for a long time to come.
