From a few innuendos in this thread I'm guessing this route is being made by member(s) of this community. Who is it?

And BigFoot !**duh*!!

It's mostly BNSF down there right?

Hmmm, I don't know if they'll do the full route that HP Trainz did several years ago Erik, I presume the creators have all signed an NDA, so, it might be difficult to get the exact details from them, it'll be a good 'un, anyway, I wonder who's making the 7 mile long Flathead Tunnel?
I've recently been playing on Michael Stephan's freeware GN Butte Division around the Great Falls area, which has the start of a line up to Shelby, so, I can run a train from there and then carry it on to Whitefish and I can play with my Great Northern and Montana Rail Link locos and boxcars as well on this, depending on the era that they're building it for, of course, it all looks very good.

Here's a good map of the Montana Railroad System.

Hi

I don't think it's any secret that I'm doing trackwork for the route, effectively forming the first link in the chain, if you will. After I've finished my bit there are then many other people who pick up the baton to transform the route into something that actually looks like a route! Whether I could be considered part of the RWA community isn't really for me to say! *!embar*! I haven't been banned yet, so I guess maybe I am. !*cheers*!

As ex-railwayman has implied I've probably said too much already and I can't make any comment about what the route will or will not include (other than to say that there definitely isn't going to be a tunnel included that's 50miles off the western end *!!wink!!* )!

Sorry for possibly appearing to be rude. There's nothing I'd like more than to be able to show screenshots of the work to date, but I can't. *!sad!*

Cheers

Bob

Or I may sit elsewhere, never knowing you.
But if fate should mark me to sit by your side,
Let's be pleasant travellers; it's so short a ride."

Maria's Pass: ex Great Northern, ex Burlington Northern, now owned and operated by BNSF.

We can assume RSC more or less models the present situation and ownership.
But in order to operate the route under all three owners, we'll need quite a bit of rolling stock, esp. motive power.
Currently, there is very little GN and BN available from RSC itself, though there are quite some repaints in the RWA file store. Older EMD power is available for other sources, but no steam locomotives that I am aware of.

Was there any iconic motive power used over the Pass and is it available to us?

Perhaps some GN/BN fan is able to compile a list of what we've got already, I would be much obliged.

Reading from other postings seems to imply the route is single track CTC in prototype. That mt.gov map provided shows there is actually very little double track in the whole of Montana. BNSF crossing by means of Maria's Pass includes most of it.

Looking forward to learn more about the route and waiting in anticipation of RSC's recreation of it.

Yep, something like that :D

I've already got a lot of bits, like the cross compressors, I can reuse from the Connie.

I would absolutely love to see one of these in the game. I think it would make a decent tutorial locomotive for Mike.

I had a time trying to make the back truck on my 4,6,4 and I still wasn't able to get it correct. Personally I believe I'll have to try later on sometime to redo that old New York Central Empire State over again, once I learn a little more about building a steam locomotive.

Later on I hope to be able to build the Union Pacific 9000 for the game.
