Does the Sherman Hill route use Scale Rail? Does anyone know if it will be available as a separate DLC or is it going to be bundled with the UK and German routes?

Rich,

From what I read it will be in a bundle and a separate DLC. No idea on Scale Rail, perhaps Hack can clarify.

•How can I get the new TS2013 routes and locos?
Simply purchase TS2013! If you already have TS2012, then buying TS2013 from Steam is a significantly cheaper way to get the three premium routes, plus locos, instead of buying them as separate DLC downloads. Further discounts maybe available closer to the launch day – keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates

I woner if TS2012 and TS2013 could be separate games on Steam. It'll be interesting to see if I can have TS2013 and an old TS2012 installed at the same time without getting the Duplicate ID error. My plan would be to have a new TS2013 install and just freeze my old TS2012 install.
If God had intended for man to fly, He wouldn't have given us the railroads.

I agree with Rich S. I hope that the Sherman Hill route is separate DLC. Typical US route player here I care not for the European routes. After reading a bit I have mixed feelings about this offer. The X-Box controler does seam interesting as long it does not turn it completely into a game. I can only imagine driving around shooting other players locomotives! (LOL)! Now if I can only talk my son out of one of his controlers. I guess we will see what will this offer be. I am keeping my fingers crossed. !*don-know!*

Yes, Sherman Hill uses ScaleRail. :D

And I hope also ScaleRoads. Default roads used on Donner Pass are gruesome.

EVERY single version of Trainz had to be purchased new. Yes there was a discount on many of the versions,to registered users. I think RSC doing a core game update free,is a great thing. That is assuming the update does not "break" anything. I would love to see the new routes as separate DLC,and priced low for existing users. I have no interest in foreign routes or rolling stock,in any train sim. I have decided that expecting lighting, physics, etc, etc to be perfect is not going to happen.Believe me,I really wish I COULD "bottle the air" on freight cars. But his is still the best sim there is. One thing that does bother me,is why Railworks and Trainz insist on dating themselves by attaching a year to the title of the product. How many other games(I hate that word) do that? Not that I want to see Railworks: "The Year of the Goat" edition.

Man some of you guys need to calm down, maybe find some other hobbies to help fill your time. !!*ok*!!

The ES44 should be separate from the other ES44s that are already in the game, take for example what they did with the Dash-9s with DP(Machinist already stated this)

Also the routes should be avaliable separately as well. For all we know all the 3 routes will cost the same as just one route if we purchas 2013.

Stay Calm and Carry On!

Best Regards Cat

I agree with you on the foreign routes and rolling stock but then again you have to remember, that it was developed in England. And they want to give worldwide users a local feeling. Anyway i dont think its bad to add a year to the end of the game but when you have 2 or three rail sims at the same time then its gonna get confusing. And i think that if people had the game for a year then they should get a discount that expires in about a month or so instead of waiting for evey steam sale.

Edit: I am also rather depressed that i will have to buy the routes and locos or the new game and not just getting the update with the locos and routes. I dont think its fair seeing as we are loyal customers to the game.

Well, it's official: I've given up on RSC and I'm not turning back. Y'know, with the release of Run 8 still scheduled for this Friday, I was kinda hoping that RSC would provide some sort of consolation to those of us "simmer" types out there in the form of physics upgrades or something. But no, instead they announce they're dumbing the physics down, in an effort to pull in a new group of customers. From a business point of view, I guess it makes sense: us train "simmers" are in the definite minority out there, and Railworks' strong suit has never been physics, or operations, but its graphics and "simplified" controls. RSC seems to have given up marketing Railworks as a simulator--although the fact that they've retained the "Train Simulator" brand is a little annoying--and turned towards the gaming community for its customer base. Ah well, at least they made the decision easy for me...

Cheers,
Eliot

True, i guess im a bit aggravated at the fact that everything is not included but i thought about it and i guess they have to make money as well.
And RSC can only get better, if you want to leave fine, just dont post bad about the game on here it ruins peoples day.

Nowhere in the OP is the word "physics" or "realism."

I guess August 1st was your time of the month..

b737lvr wrote:Well I am done with Rail works, Rail Simulator dot com for that matter. Its gotten stupid, really stupid. This is no longer a simulator, if you can even call it that in the first place. It's become a pit of money for them. Every add-on they have released has been below average standards, broken, and over priced. They never live up to their own words, constantly lie, and just make me feel like an utter fool. I have been using Railworks since it was Rail simulator over 4 years ago. I am just done with it. I now use MSTS and will be adopting Run 8 when it releases this month, taking FULL advantage of it's Multiplayer, conductor functions, dispatch, and defect detector.

Here's the catch to this. IF AND ONLY rsc announces updated physics will I reinstall railworks. But that feature is rather doubtful, considering RSC is too afraid to even leave their own safety zone in fear of breaking all of their DLC, which they end up doing anyway.

I will still be around, but don't expect any new horn mods from me !*don-know!* Sorry! The community is great, but RSC is the spinal cord and its broken. I just saved myself 25 GB today !!*ok*!!

For the record, I am not leaving because the upcoming features, but because RSC has made its plans clear to me that they don't plan on making this a true simulator. I am done with it because of the broken physics, lack of support, CONSTANT glitches and breaking updates. It's just become unbearable.

Whatever I'm done. Have fun with your train game.

See ya, dont come back. Last thing I want is someone who puts random words in RSC's mouth. They never said they are dumbing the physics down, where on earth did you get that from!?!? In-fact they announced improved physics and more realistic systems!

I think you need to go back and re-read the OP.

Ooph, looks like I've run off my mouth again...

Okay, here's what RSC posted in its original announcement:

Advances in control options and menus, such as Quick Drive, will make the experience more accessible to newcomers while offering enhanced gameplay to experienced train simmers.

To be honest, I'm not sure where you got the "improved physics and more realistic systems" from; the last time I checked, "control options" (mentioned at least twice in the announcement), "flexibility," and "accessibility" do not equate to an improvement in the base physics model (which I think we can all agree is somewhat flawed in the case of Railworks). I'll admit that my "dumbing down the physics" claim was a misrepresentation of RSC's original statement—I was merely trying to point out that RSC did not offer any reason to think that it will improve its (flawed) physics model with this release, and that the bulk of its improvements, while perhaps offering a degree of challenge to "experienced train simmers," tend to target "newcomers" who are more unfamiliar with railroad operating procedures. Which is fine. I just don’t think that Railworks has ever passed into “simulator” territory—at least; there is very little about its physics model or operations that has ever given me cause to think it has or ever will.

Cheers,
Eliot

Meaning they are creating something for people that are new to the sim and Railworks has crossed the simulator mark a long time ago. I dont see any other simulators give the same graphics and realism better than Railworks. Sure, RW has its issues, but every sim does. You just gotta keep playing and hope they fix it. Im not arguing with you and i respect your own opinions but i think differently.
