Steam summer sale

So do we know for sure what the end date will be? I want to hold out for a 75% off day but I don't want to miss the sale completely by having it end before I've had a chance to buy anything.

This sale supposed to end on the 22nd. Don't expect a 75% off until Christmas time. Summer sales usually only 50%, more or a little less.

Yeah, it's just a bit disappointing that it was so poorly done, I like the more mainline operations routes like the Cajon Pass (But one can only create so many scenarios before the route gets dull...Also the San Bernardino yard is too small for me to really have fun with) and from the videos and images I've seen the scenery itself is quite gorgeous. I also am a fan of the SD40T-2 (Or is it SD40-2T? I guess I'm not quite up on all the locomotive identifications), especially in that SP livery. I guess I'll see how I feel about spending the extra $20 when the sale is ending and I've tallied up how much I've spent on other stuff.

K4 with HSC. I swear to God you won't regret it.

Yeah, I was debating for quite a while between the K4 (especially since I just got HSC two days ago) and the Challenger and I ultimately decided I'd rather have the Challenger. It's more appealing to me partly because I like operating the massive freight trains better than passenger trains and it also comes with way more stuff, and can be used for a wider variety of things (Passenger and freight on Cajon, Castle Rock, future Sherman Hill if I get it) than the K4 which is limited to passenger use on the HSC. But I s'pose a solid point could change my mind, what's so great about the K4?

I don't recall any limitations on any locomotive or assets that restrict them to any particular route. What's to stop you from running a K4 on Cajon or Castle Rock, or a freeware route? Or the Challenger on HSC, for that matter?

At the very least you could do "fan trip" scenarios with a K4.

I've been working on a "reverse Flying Scotsman" set of scenarios with the NKP Berkshire heading to the UK to run fan trips. Been having fun with that....my friends in the UK say they'd love to have that happen for real (of course it would be prohibitively expensive so will never happen IRL).

Our tiny loading gauge means that, whilst a Berkshire would fit on the track, it wouldn't be able to fit under any bridges, through any tunnels, pass any oncoming trains or enter any station platforms. That would be kinda prohibitive too!

Picked up the SD75, SD70M-2, Dash-9, and the P42DC Genesis. I'm very happy with all of them except the Dash-9. I didn't realize it didn't have any regular scenarios. But other then that I'm very happy with the others and it should hold me over until Sherman Hill comes out
