The only 3D I have watched was "Avatar" (yes, I did keep the glasses) in a theater. But, AFAIK, with the Nvidia system, the glasses cost a lot of money, and they are linked somehow (by infrared maybe?) to the monitor so the "shutters" on the glasses alternate in sync with the screen.
It's way too much tech for me, plus way too expensive. I'll stick with 2D for now.

The red and green glasses system is called "analglyphic" very different from the present day 3D systems.
