Buzz - Dig the IC logo on the bridge there!

Here are a few good ones from a day of chasing around SE Wisconsin. Racked up about 300 miles today. Spent a lot of time on the UP, seeing as they actually decided to run trains today!

UP's LPA53 is flying towards Mapleton, WI on a gorgeous afternoon (It was predicted to be rainy all day, so everything went better than expected)

A rare SD70ACe is in charge of the "Viper" (MVPPR - Manifest: Valley Park - Proviso) as it screams eastbound in MiddleofNowhere, WI.

A trio of Big Mac's (standard power in these parts, GE's are rare, only see 'em on coal trains) hauls MSSPR (Manifest; South St. Paul - Proviso) through the countryside.

One more Armour Yellow train and two from the Canadian railroads that usually dominate the scene here. Not today Canada!

UP's Empress (MPRSS - Manifest: Proviso to South St. Paul) rolls west behind the normal trio of Macs and a big ol' sky!

The only CN train caught all day rolls south through Duplainville

One of the few CP trains caught today, CP 277, rolls west through Pewaukee behind a nice trio of SD40-2s.

Nailed a few these past four days. Here are my best out of that time frame.

UP MSSPR heads through "Dirty Stallis" (West Allis, Wisconsin)

CN M341 trundles north through Sussex, WI with 5 heads. Good to see some Pony Power up here again.

CN M336 heads south with Horse-heads in the lead. A WC GP40 can be seen fourth out, it is the only WC unit larger than an SW1500 left in the system.

Continuing my 4 days worth of extreme luck whilst railfanning.

A newer GEVo is in charge of 491 at sunrise.

One last set of "the good stuff". These three are all from Tuesday.

A gorgeous Candy Apple SD60 and a Hockey Stick sister handle the morning stacks to Chicago.

An SD60M (one of only 4 in SOO paint) leads CP's hottest little westbound through Oconomowoc, WI. Try pronouncing that town name....I dare ya! !*roll-laugh*!

A trio of SD40-2's bring Tuesday's 277 west through Brookfield. Nice to see one with it's class lights still in!

Fiddlesticks! You got it Buzz. Not often you find a 10 letter word with 5 O's now eh?

Anyways, I'd like to think this one came out pretty dern good! (One of the few Railpictures.net didn't reject)

SOO 6046 and a Hockey Stick sister handle the "expedited freight" (as the conductor joked on the radio) east through Oconomowoc. Gotta get these SOO 60's before they turn CP red!

Back from 11 days of nothing but trains. 138 photos. Here are my favorites:

Amtrak 04T (NS symbol). Amtrak #43 "Pennsylvanian" passes ALTO Tower. The tower is set to close any day now. It's the only remaining operating tower on the ex. PRR between Philly and Chicago. New SafeTran signals will replace the PRR position lights:

- SD40E helper set in Cresson, PA. Like how it appears the locomotives are sitting on the wood fence:
Image

- NS train at Cassandra Overlook:
Image

- IC&E Nahant Yard in Davenport, IA:
Image

- DPU at Rochelle. Rochelle is the place where the UP double track main (ex. CNW) from Omaha to Chicago crosses the BNSF (ex. BN) double main from Chicago to Minneapolis. The railroad park sits in the middle of the crossing:
Image

- More UP at Rochelle:

- More UP at Rochelle:

- CN at Homewood, IL. Homewood is home to the CN (ex. IC) Markham Yard, Shops and Headquarters. The METRA electric main (also ex. IC) is also here. Paralleling the CN main:
Image

- CSX train between Deshler and Fostoria, Ohio. on the ex. B&O:

And topping it all off (it's a still from video on my camera) is the chase of the Nickel Plate Heritage Unit from Cassandra down the mountain to Altoona:

Great stuff Chessie! Sounds like you had an awesome time!

Here's a few from the past week or so!

Gotta love standard cab GE's. Especially when it's a galloping Pony! NS is a treat up here....
Image
CN Southbound by Shicoe30, on Flickr

Never too many SD40-2's! Gotta love how clean they are. Cleaner than CP's GEVos....I can tell ya that much.

Blue and Yellows are always a treat, and are common (for now) on trains 276-277.

Some more....

America's engineer, Craig Willet honks and waves as he brings the eastbound Empire Builder into Milwaukee.

UP's Butler-Adams local has one heck of a lash up on it's way west (all nice and clean too!)

The WSOR dumps ballast on the Waukesha sub. Here they've been dumping for nearly 30 minutes and have only made it about .3 miles from their starting point.

A rare move on the CP! After getting on the CP at Duplainville and running lite power into CP's yard in Milwaukee, CN 5790+CN 2577 head back towards home rails with coke loads.

One more set.

I gotta say, I love Wisconsin for things like this...

Hazards on, all the way on the shoulder, I nearly lose my light on this 277 (same one as above) as it leaves Nashotah Siding after meeting an eastbound crude oil train.

My pics are sort of big, so I'll just provide links.

BNSF Z-train westbound, a few miles west of Mountainair, NM. Grabbed this one back in April, and from a moving car to boot. *!lol!* He was hauling serious rear.

UP westbound autorack. Guymon, OK. May 2011.

Image

UP eastbound manifest. Guymon, OK. May 2012. One tanker in this train had a large label "HYDROGEN FLOURIDE". !**duh*!!
