Search on \railworks folder for files named *Cab_Radio.dav or *Radio.wav and you'll find some (sometimes different) from other installed engines (usually on \Audio folders). Copy any from original Audio engine folder and paste it into the related Audio ES44AC engine folder. Rename it do match the same name of sound file you are replacing (starting with ES44AC, I guess).

At my side I deleted all radio chats of game, first because I don't understand almost nothing, !*roll-laugh*! and second (even if I understood) because is very annoying hearing same thing hours and hours long, especially having nothing to do with the scenario you are playing.

For those bothered or annoyed with radio chats, I have created a bat file (which I named "Deleting RADIOS.bat") with these command lines inside (can be placed anywhere on your pc). Be ware that my batch file deletes ALL (everyone) radio chats of game. For deleting especifics some radio sounds you can edit or create your own new command lines.

Cheers,
Doc.

Code: Select all
ECHO OFF
CLS

REM This batch file will delete (pay attention to) ALL radio chats of game

REM Change the following line to the correct path to your "Railworks" folder
SET RW="C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks"

ECHO .
ECHO *************************************
ECHO Deleting ALL radio chats sound tracks
ECHO .
ECHO .
DEL /S %RW%\*Cab_Radio.dav
DEL /S %RW%\*Radio.wav

ECHO .
ECHO .
ECHO Task COMPLETED !!!!!
ECHO .
ECHO .

The best thing I've found to do is go to railroadradio.net and stream some real live radio chatter while you play.

The Orange County, CA channel is always really busy.

Don't forget sandpatch too.

Hi,

Well Great minds must think alike *!lol!*

After replying to Doc i went to Railroadradio.net and did just that! i used Windows Media Player to play the feed from Roanoke on the East Side of the US as i am in the UK while i ran my SD40-2 in RW for 30 minutes, at least not like the RSC cab radio it was not chattering all the time!!

I will experiment some more, like Doc said in his post i don't understand whats going on either but it just brings the cab to life other than nothing at all,

One other thing, is it possible to record say a hour or more to Windows Media Player so as to start the Radio Chatter at will, [anytime] :D

Thanks again,

Roger.

I've long thought that playing any other sound source while running RW would cause problems, so I'm glad to hear that this is possible. However, I do think that longer cab chatter loops would be a popular add-on -- say, to Trains & Drivers US engine enhancement package.

I listen to music all the time while I run RW. To really make things weird, I sometimes use the VLC player streaming function and listen to Ancient Faith Radio (Orthodox Christian music and readings) which can make for some pretty surreal moments while driving my trains! !**duh*!!

I listened to the Orange County stream and heard a name I've heard on the RSC chatter!! At one point in the RSC chatter in the F7, it goes "Foreman Dan Hernandez" and then something about Amtrak. But on the Orange County stream I heard "Metrolink xxx approach xxxxx prepared to stop and proceed once permission is obtained from Foreman Dan Hernandez." Different Foreman Dan, or maybe RSC snatched a recording from the Orange County feed.

!*roll-laugh*! Good idea if me, the author of LEP, could understand any live railroads' radio chatters! *!embar*! About the ES44AC radio chatter, the few times I heard that (fortunately I got it away as soon as I found "how to" realise the deleting operation) the only thing I could undestand was the "Ha ha...". !*roll-laugh*! Well, at least I guess was an "Ha ha...", not sure yet though.

(in Maxwell Smart style) Don't tell me you listen to "One Horse Open Sleigh" when playing a winter scenario?!?! *!greengrin!*

I do think there is a certain "California" character to the default chatter loop, like with the place names mentioned. Will tune in to trainradio.net more often to listen in on the real operations.

I don't mind the repeating character so much, with a decent sound pack installed, the engine noises mostly down out the radio chatter anyway.

If you are an über-geek you can "listen in" on telemetry even, check here: http://www.codeline-telemetry.com and wonder what it does.

I do the same as well, but my music taste is a little different. I just go to my You Tube favorites and choose shuffle. Then start RW. Or I throw in a CD. Yeah, I still have a bunch, probably over 100, all the way from Susan Boyle (newest) to "way back" like 80's and 90's stuff. !**duh*!!

I listed to a lot of westerns sometimes when I'm modeling a building. When I'm building a building from the 20's or 30's I listed to big band such as Glen Miller, and when I'm building a old west building I listed to westerns.

Hi,

A coincidence today as i took the wife shopping [no i don't go round the shops i take my magazines and sit in the car! :D ] and she bought me a personal radio cassette player from a charity shop, i have not been able to play my cassettes for many years as its all CD's now days so i got them out and i can sit in front of the PC and talk to you guys while i listen to some old music, !

While i was going though my tapes i came across a couple of cassettes i had back in the 1960's of US Diesel sounds!! i can't believe i have had them so long and they still work! mind you the wife thinks i'm Nuts!! Oh well *!lol!*

Just thought i would give you some useless info,

Its a great hobby this railroading i must say,

Cheers,

Roger.
