I don't necessarily like Flash either, nor do I like Adobe Reader that much, but the rest of the world does and I have to put up with it. I guess I have enough security right now I don't mind their garbage. Ghostery was one really great addition I found a while back. That and CCleaner covers all my tracks. I gotta have my You Tube! !**duh*!!

I decided quite a while ago that I refuse to have any Adobe products installed on my computer, mainly because of their apparent lack of concern for security just to make their stuff 'glitzy' and easy to use (read: easy to hack).

I do recall now that they claim CCleaner does have the option to delete those intrusive and pesky LSO's. I believe there's also a Firefox add-on that does that.

Last time I checked, Flash and Acrobat Reader where on the top ten list of security risk programs. That may change now that Adobe is, apparently - finally getting on the bandwagon by thinking a bit more about the security of their apps.

About pesky Flash LSOs: use FlushFlash, available at numerous sites such as this one: http://fstaal01.home.xs4all.nl/flushflash-us.html

One click and all Flash cookies are gone.

Perhaps set it to where the admin has to approve the video first before actually being able to see the video on the forum. After that you'd be able to see the video and the admin would also know that it's safe, and not a problem.

Clicking a link to the external video is no big deal, even more so now the 'open in new tab' feature is working. We all know how to get back here, perhaps we don't need the video embedded after all. I can't say I have felt the forum lacking in anyway for not having the video content inside the post, and to be honest I mostly go external on video links anyway so I can expand the viewing area.

Thanks for that info. I'll have to look into that.

I really don't have the time or interest to watch all the videos that members here link to. I generally find most videos a bit boring anyway, that's one of the reasons I don't miss having Flash installed.
If someone were to post a video link that is inappropriate and it gets reported to me by another member, that video gets deleted and the poster of that video could possibly get banned, so why would someone want to post something that is inappropriate.

I like your way of thinking. !!*ok*!!

Marleyman's right. Now that the open in a new tab is enabled (hmm, who suggested that I wonder? ) it's not such a big deal. !!*ok*!!
