WCML North - Polmadie Hop

Unread postby GaryG » Wed Dec 14, 2011 2:04 am

Hi

Tired of having the AI collision report(s) always crashing the scenario?

Fairly easy fix with the scenario editor. I do suggest editing a cloned copy first though.

After opening the scenario in the editor, move to Lat/Lon 55.83014 -4.21523
You should be looking at loco 47239 and consist.

Delete that entire consist and save.

That's it, I've run it twice now with no failures and I even get to see the loaded coal consist move off about the time I start off for the station. Up until now, that consist just seemed to park.

It is a nice scenario, lots of traffic passing by and towards the end, there's even a train to wait for unless you're really late as well as some track work to run around.

I tried "Polmadie Hop" for the first time today and, yes, the scenario was interrupted by an AI collision, supposedly between trains 4S52 and 2S22. A search of this forum led me to your solution, which worked very well ... up to the next-to-last moment. I reached the point where I had to stop for another train very close to the final destination. The train passed, the light turned yellow, I started to accelerate and ... another AI crash, this one between trains 2S25 and 1M30.

Thanks for your helpful tip. I'll have another editing look tomorrow and see if this second crash can be eliminated. With all the AI trains that pass through this entertaining scenario, a couple of crashes really don't surprise me.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Update: I eliminated the second AI crash (see above) by giving an AI a slightly later starting time. In the process, I noticed that, although a passenger train, it's rating was "Special", which I changed to "Stopping Passenger". That led me to look at the entire AI list (it's a long one in this scenario), where I discovered and changed two more "Specials" and also found three named engines with no instructions whatsoever. I hunted those down and deleted their driver disks.

Finally, it became possible to run the scenario from start to finish with plenty of traffic along the way and without AI crashes. There's no way of knowing who authored this scenario, but his real intelligence was obviously not up to the artificial intelligence of his creations.

Can I get by with uploading my version of this scenario to the file library here?

Tom,

I am new to Railworks and am not up to editing the scenario myself. I would appreciate it if you would send me a copy of your corrected version with instructions on how to install it. Hope I'm not asking too much.

Thanks,
Tom

I don't see why not, as long as you note that it is a corrected version.

My modification of the "Polmadie Hop" scenario is now available in the file library. Thanks to Hawk for adding it. I hope that it runs well for others -- it's worth playing.
