One person had posts of a "racially insensitive" nature, not having anything to do with the workplace, and was called into the plant manager's office and told to remove it. Another guy went on a drunken rant about an inept supervisor, and was threatened by said supervisor with termination, even though what the guy said was dead-on true. So not only are you being interview for jobs via social meda, your facebook activity may also be factored into your next performance review. Remember that your so-called "free speech" rights are protected from government interference, not private entities, so be careful what you post on that site.
It's my understanding that it is not illegal for an employer, or prospective employer, to ask for your Facebook password, but you are not legally required to supply it (
not yet anyway).
However, your employer can legally fire you if they find something they don't like, but you can take them to court and there's a chance you could win.
Likewise, a prospective employer and you are in the same situation.
