New engines?

Unread postby B-24_LIBERATOR » Thu Mar 01, 2012 1:56 pm

Anyone out there interested in making some classic American steam locomotives? Honestly I don't know why there isn't much of it for RW, MSTS has got all sorts of cool stuff. not sure if RW is just more difficult to make working models for or what, i can't even figure out how to skin anything it's so dang complicated...

Anyhow, heres a few locos I'd like to see ingame...

4-4-4

Probrably one of my favorite locos the 0-4-0 (or 0-4-2) Porter

Any sort of old 4-4-0 (black or gaudy(although I do prefer a straight stack over a balloon or something)) I know theres a 4-4-0 and a 2-8-0 right now but their pretty low quality and I can't figure out how to reskin them either.

Those are some really nice locomotives, especially the Reading 4-4-4. I must say, I too would like to see some more steam locomotives...4-4-2's, 4-6-0's, 2-8-0's, 2-10-0's and other various steam power, built to the standards of the K-4. These would look great as PRR locomotives on HSC.

Having sent a modeller all the way from the UK to Strasburg to check out the K4 for research, I cant see any business crazy enough to pass up the opportunity to soak up all the museums Pennsy goodies. I really just hope they don't wait too long to announce / release new motive power. With the HSC route as the base, there is a ready established market for any new DLC - I know I will buy :D

!*cheers*!

I agree I would like to see it too.. But let's not limit it to Pennsy... PRR had it's own unique style.. Flat nose, high headlight, boxy looking things, I never liked them, which is why I haven't DL'd the K4. *!!wink!!* But now something like the above, I'd love to see.... Maybe one day I hope

American wise, we have a lot of larger 20's-30's steamers already which is why I was hoping to get some of the smaller engines (not that I don't like the big ones but I like to have some diversity). If we get more engines from that era I'd really like to see some 4-4-4's or 4-4-2's.

I would agree, however, it would be easier for the folks of Railworks to market an "add-on" pack for PRR steam, vs. say a CN 2-8-2. Other than fictional routes, where would you run it, and have it look "at home". I love CN and GTW steam, and would love to see that kind of power....but I would also love to have it run in it's "home territory".

Do you have any good pictures of that 4,4,4,

I might try it with 3D crafter.

No, I just kinda did a quick skim on google images to find something similar to what I was looking for. I can look into it though and see if i can find the model and some more pictures from different angles.

EDIT: don't really see any better pics...
This one is all I could find

Would you be interested in making a 4-4-2 instead?

Probably would be better if I made the 4,4,2 instead. Since the windows of the 4,4,4 would be a problem.

I've never got a locomotive into the game before so this would be the first.

Just for the heck of it.. Here's another 4-4-4 F2-a.. This one was done in MSTS I know, 'cause I have (had) it. Her sister the F3-a held the speed record for the longest time (40 years I think) at 112 mph..
