GP15 Wipers

Unread postby gkbaldwin » Fri Feb 17, 2012 1:46 pm

Quick question.

On the default GP15 (MP) only the engineer front side wipers appear to be animated. All others (center front, conductor front and back and engineer back) wipers do not move. This is true for the UPy 588 repaint as well.

Is this correct? If yes, can the others be animated easily as well?

Curious....Gerry

They are broken on all the GP15's (I think the 7 as well). There is no known way to fix this problem.

Something to keep in mind is that the 7, 15 and 38-2 are all abandonware. The authors have given the models to the community and will not update them. MadMike and I have been doing some work to make them TS2012 capable, but there is only so far we can go with it.

What does that mean technically? Did they release the source files in max, 3DC or Blender format?

No source files, just the rwp and that's it. It would have been grand if they did give up the source files.

Don't I just wish they had! I would love to fix some of the animations and things like smokestacks. All it really means, is that we have the original packages, and there are no restrictions about distribution, (save selling them, in the Brindley GP15 and GP7 models, it is expressly forbidden) painting, or external modifications.

I wonder if anyone has asked them for the source files.

I have a feeling they wouldn't give it up.

Where can I find the files for these? I'd love to have the repaints that are in the file library here, but alas, no base model. !*don-know!*

I am not sure what you mean by "no base model". The repaints (at least the ones MadMike and I worked on) are complete. No need to copy/paste files.

I also updated the original SAL GP7 and included the necessary files for the expert loco, and it is available here. I don't remember if I fixed up the Missouri Pacific GP15 or not.
