Hi MontanaRails,
Your system will work for aliasing the sounds to the new 645 sounds in the Kuju folder, the only problem is you will loose the talking hot box detector sounds in the Donner Pass route. What I did was copied the SD40 Cab Sound.xml and Class SD40 Cab.proxyxml files to the Steam\SteamApps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\DonnerPass\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\Cab folder and then modified them to use the Donner Pass talking hot box detector. To use these files you'll have to change your provider and product codes back to the Donner Pass settings for the Cab Sound blueprint.
Code: Select all
                                 <Provider d:type="cDeltaString">RSC</Provider>
                                 <Product d:type="cDeltaString">DonnerPass</Product>

Are you going to add the cab vibration on throttle up like the default ones have?

I just ran two scenarios with SD40-2s, one with the new sounds and one without.
With them, the realism factor is notched up a lot, it is like a different game.
I will have to make all of my SD40-2s use them because there is no going back - I just can't go with the old sounds anymore!

Thanks for a great job, simer4.

To enable these sounds for SD40 expansion packs (CN, CN widenose, BN, SF, etc), you need only to copy 3 proxy files to each pack. These use the sounds from the default Kuju SD40-2.
Here is a DOS batch file (a script) for doing this easily.

Don't use for the tunnel motor SD40-2s from Donner's Pass because you will lose Donner's special sounds.
You should edit Donner's proxy files instead.

First, install simer4's sounds as explained in the readme.
Copy the following script to a text editor.
Where it says "Change the following 2 lines...", enter the correct path to your own Railworks folder.
You may also want to edit the packs list so that you don't get errors when you run the script.
Save the script as SD40-2.BAT on your computer.
Run it by double-clicking on it. It should take a second or less, then look at the output for any error message. Hit any key to close the window.

Code: Select all
REM SD40-2.BAT
REM Chacal 2012 http://www.railworksamerica.com
REM This script will enable the new SD40-2 sounds by simer4 (Aidan Berard) for SD40-2 add-on packs

REM Change the following 2 lines to the correct path to your Railworks folder and your own list of SD40-2 packs
SET rw=I:\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks
SET packs=SD40WnPack01 SD40BnPack01 SD40CnPack01 SD40HnPack01 SD40SfPack01

REM Source path
SET src=%rw%\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40

REM For each add-on pack, copy 3 proxy files with correct naming
FOR %%i IN (%packs%) DO (
COPY /Y %src%\"Class SD40.proxyxml" %rw%\Assets\RSC\%%i\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\SD40.proxyxml
COPY /Y %src%\Cab\"SD40 Cab.proxyxml" %rw%\Assets\RSC\%%i\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\Cab\"SD40 Cab.proxyxml"
COPY /Y %src%\Cab\"Class SD40 Horn.proxyxml" %rw%\Assets\RSC\%%i\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\Cab\"SD40 Horn.proxyxml"
)

PAUSE

To go back to the old sounds, run this other batch file:

Code: Select all
REM SD40-2_DEL.BAT
REM Chacal 2012 http://www.railworksamerica.com
REM This script will disable the new SD40-2 sounds by simer4 (Aidan Berard) for SD40-2 add-on packs

REM Change the following 2 lines to the correct path to your Railworks folder and your own list of SD40-2 packs
SET rw=I:\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks
SET packs=SD40WnPack01 SD40BnPack01 SD40CnPack01 SD40HnPack01 SD40SfPack01

REM For each add-on pack, delete 3 proxy files
FOR %%i IN (%packs%) DO (
DEL %rw%\Assets\RSC\%%i\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\SD40.proxyxml
DEL %rw%\Assets\RSC\%%i\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\Cab\"SD40 Horn.proxyxml"
DEL %rw%\Assets\RSC\%%i\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\Cab\"SD40 Cab.proxyxml"
)
PAUSE

Hope this helps.

***EDIT*** I found an error in the SD40-2.BAT script. It is now corrected.
If you have used it already, you should run the corrected one now.

Thank you very much Chacal... !!*ok*!!

I had forgotten how to use the "set" function, so I had already edited commands lines for each pack SD40-2 DLC in my "Big Bat" (so far 35 mods updatings)... !**duh*!! your "bat" is simple and easier. !*salute*!

Well guys, the unthinkable has happened. My drive with Railworks is beginning to fry. Luckily I have the stuff backed-up, and will continue once we get a new drive. *!mad!*

Yeah, everything's good, in fact, really good, as I will be upgrading my computer very soon with money I got from my birthday at my disposal.
