1920's - 1930's vehicles.

Here's a set of much needed vehicles from the US to fill the Railworks streets of 1920 through 1939.

Since I'm building some vintage buildings I decided to start on a pack of vehicles to go with it.

Some more progress on it. Once finished this will be a 1930's J Type Ambulance, as close as I can get it.

This first model is close to being finished.

I'll also build a Ford Model T and Model H

The Model J almost ready to be exported into 3D Crafter.

Just about to put the brand new 1930 Type J Ambulance into the game.

What do you think of it?

It looks pretty good, but I am curious why you placed the head lights so far back, when in your reference photo they are in the front?

I actually measured there spot wrong, and in sketchup it's hard to go back and change something.

By the way, here's it in game.

I'll fix the headlights tomorrow.

So, what do you think of it.

Cute! I like it, except for the front (mudguards?) that you have straightened.
They should go around the front wheels like on your reference picture.

I think it will be great to have such period vehicles for the sim. I admire people who can do this sort of thing.

I re-edited the front mudflaps and the front headlights.

These vehicles will be released as freeware, but they're really for a 1930's route I want to build in the future, as well as the buildings and houses.

Also, converted the body and saved as a different model to convert it to the truck version from 1930.

JP this is one reason to try to learn 3DC and stop using SU. I have started with the SU > 3DC learning curve, and in the end it paid of big with moving to 3DC alone. Yes, there is a difference in drawing styles between the two applications, and I would agree that SU is more intuitive, but in the end 3DC will give you the control you need when making these alterations. This is especially handy when you want to clone a model (which has all its history) and then make a variation of it, and to site a second example if you needed to scale a specific component of a model, without affecting the whole model.

BTW, I love that truck.

I can copy the sketchup file and then change it and save it as something else and it won't effect the old model.

By the way, here's the new ambulance back in the game. So what do you think of it.

The truck is now in the game. If you ever watched the Waltons in the series they drove a truck simular to this.
