Nope, not until the beginning of next month. You used all your free bandwidth. Pro is only $20 a year, I've had it for several years now. I have probably about 500 images on Photo Bucket.

OK, back on topic, anyone noticed the braking on the SD40T? I'ts absurdly strong! 2% will slow two locomotives at 25% throttle! (Snow Play scenario or whatever it's called) Along with the abrupt grade changes, hardest it's ever been to control consist speed, even just two locos and a cabeese. And front engine has no sound, only helper.

And 13% throttle will keep a 80 car train going up a 2% grade! It is crazy, I think it's just RW's physics though. Same thing that makes the train fly in the air when you hit it going 5 mph and causes couplers to stretch like rubber bands! !*roll-laugh*!

Hi

I just tried DonnerPass with MaxCantAngleDegrees set to 2 (default was 4) - Ran a test train West from Reno.

The SuperElevation looked much more realistic, especially on an "S" or two that I saw the train run through.

The main cause of the abrupt leans appears to be due to short transitional sections. Glancing at some locations, I saw one where the transition appeared to take place with the top of rail height transitioning in five or six linear inches of track. The MaxCant change from 4 to 2 somewhat hides these abrupt transitional changes to make it look a bit better.

The file is with the TrackRule Cant setting is "....SteamApps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\DonnerPass\RailNetwork\Track\DonnerPass.xml; remember, you must use serz to 'binify' the file after the edit.

Disclaimer - If things break, it's not my fault... (Save the original .xml and .bin files)

The only real cure is probably by relaying a lot of track. Even with these visual glitches I do like the route and consider it somewhat of a bargain at the current 50% price.

I dont notice this, actually. I'm partway through this scenario also, and on level track, I tested what you were saying. I applied train brake at is minimum setting, and kept throttle at 25%. The two locos (and caboose) kept accelerating. I then tried the same thing with the loco brake, same outcome. It actually took quite a bit of brake to slow the units down. I have not modified the Tunnel Motor's physics. The brakes on these locos feel the same as all other SD40 variants in the sim. Maybe I'm just not picking up on the issue. Also, I'm using the SD40-2 sound mod with all my SD40 variants, and I have sound from both locos.

I will say, however, that I took time and free roam flew through the entire route, and it makes me want to soften my frustration toward RSC a little. It is simply an enormous route. A little awe inspiring. I recommend that everyone take the time to fly through the whole route in one sitting. It really makes you think!!

The track work is what bothers me the most. Cant fix it. But throughout my 'flight', I did fix the things I could - grade crossings, errant trees and floating objects, and tunnel portal bleedthroughs. Now, its tolerable.

I'm going to try to enjoy it for what it is.

The S turns are ridiculous. If I'm not mistaken, there should be at least 200 feet of straight track between the turns. So the latter quote is the only way to make them right. *!sad!*

In the good weather full route scenarior, you are routed onto track 1 just outside of Rocklin. Single track mainline and an AI train is coming as oncoming traffic. Fail scenario.

What is the exact name of the scenario you are having problems with? Is it a Standard mode or Career mode scenario?

Is the right weight of track being used? It looks like US Mainline Light to me.
Since this is probably not the right place to ask questions about this route, wWhere is the new discussion thread that Hawk announced?

I got this when I followed the link at the bottom:

Since there's a new thread started about this route since it's release, I'm going to lock this one.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. The thread I linked to in that thread was deleted, so this one is good enough.

Yes - in fact several things look bad from the GP 9 cab view. I was playing through the 1st scenario ('Donner pass'), and especially noticed the trees looked awful from inside the cab (the leaves are much lighter than in the outside view). The track bed looks worse as well, and generally it makes driving from the cab (which is what I usually do) pretty rubbish. This is with TSX off by the way.

I emailed RS.com at the weekend about this, so we'll see if they reply.

There may also be issues with the signaling in this route. The 2H1T signal shows red/red in game but red/yellow in the 2D map. Also the 2H2T may have issues. I have been able to go thru both on red without the game ending and not useing the tab key in a std scenario.
edit: Should have mentioned that the issue is with the gantry signal heads.
