Hi MontanaRails,
I cannot tell for sure from your above screen shot. Is that switch lined for the track the engine is on or is it lined for the ladder? Currently Rail Works defaults the straightest route through a switch as the default normal route and the other route becomes the reversed or diverging route.

I have a question: Has anyone noticed the three way switch toward the West end of Roseville yard? Is there really a three way switch in this location? If not I'm going to change it out, but if Espee did put a three way here I'll leave it :D

Regards,
Rich S.

Yes I colored those boxes SP's colors ^.^

Edit:

The real crossing here at truckee is actually a cantilever !*hp*!

One one the first things I'm doing is replacing roads and crossing signals, thanks for pointing that one out. I'll slap a cantilever in there.

In this picture, the points are lined for the track with the loco on it, showing green 'clear' indication on the target. As far as I can tell, all of the manual switches on the route are this way.

I set the camera FOV to 10 degrees, and took some track pictures...this really illustrates that there are NO gradual gradients.

Here's why the loco rocks hard every time it goes into a superelevated curve....theres this ugly transition:

On prototype EMD's (GE's as well but you can't see the GE grid blowers) the fans only run when you are in dynamics. The reason is because the blowers are in series with the grids. To see the EMD's going down the track in motoring with the grid blowers running just looks funny. Another point is the rad fans, they all do not run at the same time. They are set to turn on at different temperature settings with the number 1 fan (Fan closest to the rear of the unit, unless you are talking about a Southern or N&W unit, then it would be the fan closes to the front of the unit on long hood lead units) turning on first and turning off last. I'm just wondering how much GPU / CPU time is being wasted on all of these fans running when they shouldn't be? Is this another reason frame rates are dropping, Four engines times 5 fans per engine is this just to much animation and the fans are killing frame rates? Something to think about?

Rich S.

I'm going to say those animations aren't hurting fps at all ( actually might all be one animation, can't look right now ) - all you are doing is drawing the same model turned a little bit, you're not drawing anything extra. Might be worth posting that in a seperate thread of "general things to fix" given it's not Donner related and I'm sure one of us would look at fixing :).

That isn't specific to Donner, that has been around for a while. F5 shows the head end speed.

Any chance you could upload the file(s). Not all of us know where to look or what to do ;-)

Thanks,

I can make a general comment - none of the highways that I have seen so far have any kind of shoulder or guardrail.

I have seen flying houses, flying trees, and I have seen weirdnesses when entering some tunnels that others have noted.

Free roam starting at Donner summit doesn't seem to have any engines that I can jump into.

To me it seemed remarkably fast that they could turn around a route this long. We knew about NEC for quite a number of months before it was released.

Looks who's popular !*lho*! I wonder if the photo's will reappear after midnight? Anyway I was just looking at the track / switch issue in the Emigrant gap tunnel and I think it's a alpha issue with the track ballast. If you look at that same switch looking West toward Colfax all looks normal, look at the switch looking East toward Norden and you can see right through the tunnel floor. These tunnels are also separate objects from the track, maybe a conflict between the two alpha's???

I've had the issue with loco numbers changing at different angles/zooms before Donner. Ive even had it with locomotives I was working on repainting. Havent found what causes it. But its not a problem from Donner.
