I guess I'll find out soon enough. I doubt I'll be uninstalling it. *!greengrin!*

I've got a 2.4, but its quad core, and running RW2 rarely exceeds 20% of one core. Its doubtful that RW will max that out. More than likely, the 2.8 figure is with all the details, bells, and whistles turned up to max settings. If worse comes to worse, i'll overclock to 3.0 and throw in a water cooler.

I was looking on eBay - I can get a pair of Xeon 5160 for 50$ (3GHz). If I only wanted 2.66 GHz, I could get a pair of them for something like 20$ - that would still be a decent upgrade over the pair of 5130 (2GHz) that I have now.

The quad-core chips get quite pricey though - esp at higher clock speeds.

My 2.4 is a dual core.

I'm thinking you'll be fine. The way I read the specs it says 2.8 gHz - meaning a single core.

That aside, we have been told there will be dual (multi?) core optimization in RW3.

Does anyone know if the older engines like Justin's GP38-2 and RSC's SD40-2 High Hoods will work correctly with the new super elevation?

Regards,
Rich S.

P.S. Tomorrow is the day, can't wait, like a kid in a candy store !*YAAA*! !*YAAA*!

Will a Nvida 7800 GTX Video card / driver support RW3 operation? RW2 works GREAT..I love the NEC, but to be honest...I really don't speak the computer lingo!! The rest of the spec's fit right in, and I am up to snuff, but I am just curious on this one item. Thanks guys!

As the specs state:
Chessie8638 wrote:Operating system Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7
Processor 2.8 GHz or faster
Memory 2.0 GB RAM
Hard disk space 6.0 GB
Video 256 MB with Pixel Shader 3.0*
(AGP PCIe only)
Sound Direct X 9.0c compatible
DirectX Version 9.0c (Included)

I'm not sure about the 7800 card, but I run a 7600 GT card and it is pixel shader 3 capable, so I'm guessing the 7800 is also.

Edit 1: A quick Google search confirms the 7800 GT card does have pixel shader 3 support.

just realized my processor is only 2.1 GHz....but in all other fields I have more than is required.....
to someone who doesn't actually know much about computers, what does that mean for me? Sub-par performance, or worse?

If you have a dual core processor you should be just fine. If it is a single core you will probably have poor performance but should still be able to run the software.

Depending on your motherboard a CPU upgrade may be cheap & easy.

Release times as listed by RSC looks to be at 1700 PST (5PM Pacific time, 6PM Mountain, 7PM Central, 8PM Eastern) today, if what I am reading is correct.
