Train Simulator Classic Museum Kiosk Route & Dual-Era Automated Scenar

Hello everyone,

I am writing on behalf of the New Braunfels Railroad Museum (NBRRM), a non-profit museum located inside the historic 1907 International-Great Northern (I-GN) depot in New Braunfels, Texas. The depot sits directly on the active UP Austin Subdivision which carries 30-40 movements each day. It was historically serviced by the I-GN and the Missouri Pacific railroads.

We are currently building 2x high-traffic, public-facing simulator kiosks inside the "Kids Zone" at the museum to let visitors experience what it was like to operate passenger trains right outside our windows.

We will be using Windows 11 PCs in Kiosk Mode, 32" monitors, RailDriver Desktop Train Controllers and Train Simulator Classic from Steam.

We want to retain a knowledgeable consultant/developer to build an automated DLC package featuring two distinct historical eras with interactive gamified elements and an automatic reset loop.

Project Scope & Deliverables:

1. The Micro-Route: The 1.25-mile route between the New Braunfels depot northbound through town to the Guadalupe River bridge. Track layout should utilize the Google Maps API overlay and DEM terrain data to accurately place the I-GN depot and the line leading to the bridge. Generic assets for buildings are fine, provided the scenery looks reasonably "life-like."

2. The Trains:

o Scenario 1 (1907 - 1925 Era): A 4-6-2 USRA Heavy Pacific steam locomotive at the depot platform headed northbound, custom-skinned with authentic historical I-GN lettering. Add 4 wooden passenger cars in Pullman green with prototypical "International-Great Northern" lettering. we can provide photos from the museum of our vision here.

o Scenario 2 (1948 - 1961): A Missouri Pacific "Texas Eagle" streamliner at the platform headed northbound in the Screaming Eagl livery. Use the G-Trax ALCO PA-1 locomotive model with the Screaming Eagle livery and 7-8 passenger cars with period lettering. Photos can be provided.

3. Interactive Scripted Gameplay Challenges:

To maximize engagement for children using the RailDriver, both scenarios should feature the same 1-to-2-minute interactive sequence triggered by track markers:

o The "All Aboard" Start: The train sits idling at the depot but cannot move. An on-screen prompt with audio tells the child to press button 2 to close the doors. Doing so triggers a "Passenger Doors Closing / All Aboard!" sound effect and unlocks the throttle. A visual/audio prompt says, "Safe to Leave Station."

o The Bell: As the train moves, a visual/audio prompt to ring the bell (button 1) Train accelerates to 35 mph (and no faaster).

o The Grade Crossing Challenge: As the train approaches the first road crossing, a bright flash on the screen commands: "BLOW WHISTLE / HORN!" The child must use the physical RailDriver horn/whistle toggle. Repeat this for a second road crossing.

o The River Bridge Speed Trap: Approaching the Guadalupe river bridge, a pop-up warns: "Slow Down! Bridge Ahead: 20 MPH!" The child must pull back the throttle and use the Train Brake lever to slow down. Keeping the train under the speed limit displays a "Perfect Speed!" visual reward. Simulate a wooden bridge for the steam train and a steel bridge for the diesel.

4. Automated Kiosk Menu & Reset Loop (The Core Logic):

The game must sit on a simple, custom main menu allowing a visitor to select either the Steam Train or the Diesel Streamliner. Once the short driving sequence across the river bridge is complete a pop-up "Good Job." This then triggers a fade-to-black and forces a restart back to the main selection screen for the next visitor.

Compensation & Timeline:

This is a funded museum project. We want to retain a consultant either via an agreed-upon flat project fee or an hourly rate for your development time. If you are an experienced route builder or lua scripter who is passionate about railroad preservation and interactive exhibit design, we would love to work with you.

Please email us at admin@nbrrm.org with your contact information and a link to some of your previous Train Simulator Classic work/screenshots along with your estimated rates or project fees.

Thank you for your time and for supporting railroad preservation!
