Apache Railway progress report...

As previously mentioned, the first 16 miles of the Apache have been added between Holbrook and the Smithfield Feed Mill. Given the mostly desert setting of this region, I may just bang out the entire railroad over the coming weeks (we're already halfway to Snowflake). For now here's a more in-depth look at this fan favorite operation.

The Northbound Holbrook Turn arrives at Smithfield with 61 various cars returning from cleaning, storage and repair. Pig feed hoppers are staged in the foreground ready for unloading.




Grabbing a handful of empty pig feed cars from the outbound track.




Rollercoaster grades will keep you on your toes maintaining the speed limit.

In case you're wondering why this project is taking so long...

For what feels like the billionth time, I've discovered a wonderful glitch where over 70 miles of mainline decided to sink into the hollow earth for no reason (adding insult to injury, I haven't even touched this section in over a month ). Thankfully, there's no way to fix this. I'm once again forced to play a game of pick your poison on which segment of the map to rebuild all over again. In this case, rebuilding the entire Apache system is much more preferable to messing with this utter nightmare.

I try to keep an updated version of the tracks.bin file every couple of weeks, but clearly even that's not good enough







The same issue happened when I started the Camp Navajo Railroad a couple months ago. The mainline took flight all the way to Ash Fork...



More unnecessary delays to come.

I have had this - before doing any track mods cut the rails either side of the work point, do the work then weld the cuts. This was a tip I got from Minerman and it does work
