As a bit of additional background, your brand new GP-9 could be delivered, long hood forward being the stock configuration, for about $250,000. If you wanted to run it short hood forward, it would cost you $10,000 per unit. N&W (and many other roads) reasoned that it was better to get 26 units instead of 25 for the same amount of money. In addition, a good many of the locomotive crews, who were used to looking down the sides of longer and wider boilers, appreciated the better visibility while retaining the advantage of having all that iron out in front of them in case of a collision. The CV crew who explained this to me in 1967 said so in so many words.

I could do this engine. In argentina we have one sharknose operational with the same diesel engine (608-A). I have videos and lot of cab pictures. In the argeninian unit the engineer seat is in the left side.
I upload a couple of pictures of the argentinian baldwin FR-615.

"HORSESHOE CURVE
By RailSimulator.com · Updated 3 minutes ago

RailSimulator.com announced that they are recreating the famous Pennsylvanian Horseshoe Curve for their upcoming PC simulation game, RailWorks 3: Train Simulator 2012.
Sequel to the award-winning RailWorks 2 Train Simulator, Train Simulator 2012 looks set to push the boundaries of simulation even further, and being able to drive along this famous railroad under the shadow of the Allegheny Mountains is sure to appeal to a great many users. The Horseshoe Curve will be included with all copies of Train Simulator 2012 purchased via Steam and in the deluxe boxed addition. It will also be sold separately on Steam for customers who take advantage of the FREE upgrade to Train Simulator 2012. The Horseshoe Curve add-on is launched on promotion at just $14.99, £9.99, €11.49 (RRP: $29.99, £19.99, €22.99)

Paul Jackson, CEO of Railsimulator.com, said “The Horseshoe Curve is iconic not only to US rail fans, but to rail fans around the world – including myself. It has quite rightly been described as an engineering marvel. It also provides the first example of a purpose-built TS2012 route including all the advanced features it has to offer, and we want ALL our fans to experience TS2012 in all its finery which is why we have dropped the price by so much”

The Horseshoe Curve is situated near the town of Altoona in Pennsylvania, on a line originally constructed by the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR), and has echoed to the thunder of heavy freight trains ever since its completion in 1854. It offers the spectacle for railroad engineers – and lucky passengers – of being able to watch the rear of their train making its way along one side of the curve as the locomotives lead the train up the other side, the middle of the train running around the tight 637-foot radius curve at the top of the lake.

The Horseshoe Curve for Train Simulator 2012 is the first add-on to fully utilise all the new features in RW3: Train Simulator 2012. It accurately recreates not only the famous curve, but also many more miles of the line as it continues along to Cresson and Johnstown. Complete with appropriate PRR locomotives and rolling stock, the Horseshoe Curve also includes scenarios for players to work through in which unexpected events unfold and allow the player to rise through the ranks of their fellow engineers.

The Horseshoe Curve will be available for Train Simulator 2012 September 23.

Keep an eye out for the new TS2012 UK route announcement in the next few weeks."

And, its not just a route, its new technologies (like superelevation) AND PRR locomotives and rolling stock...

Having been here in real life several times, it does have the right feel. It looks great.

What a deal. I know what I'm going to be doing in 3 weeks...! !*brav*!

It doesn't need an upgrade, it's in the complete wrong geographical position, somewhere in Texas, so Tehachapi loop would need to be made from scratch.

Well they appear to be lighting up the ground brilliantly, but I agree the actual headlights could use a basic shader effect with a bright "star" look to be a little more authentic.
