B&M SW1

Unread postby goddrauG » Sun Jun 08, 2025 1:31 pm

Hello folks, I hope all is well! It seems like it is: there’s an SW1 in the shop now. Exciting (though I may be a bit late to the party)!

To that end, I was wondering if anyone would like to take a crack at the locomotive in the Boston and Maine’s second diesel paint scheme, black with red stripes? This can be seen in the attached photos.

The B&M actually painted these in almost every scheme the railroad had to offer, starting with the simple solid black paint with a white box all the way to “Dustin Dip” blue. These things earned their keep on the Boston and Maine railroad in the 20th century! Most recently, B&M SW1 #1127 was saved from the scrap line by a grassroots fundraising effort and now resides in Danbury, Connecticut undergoing restoration. The power of railfans!

I may be heavily biased as a New Englander, but I believe that she would be a welcome addition to the roster of locomotives in the library. !*cheers*! !*salute*!
