I bought Arizona Divide yesterday and after reading your comnent checked out Hanover. It has good reviews and seems too be visually very nice, so I think I am going to get Hanover as well !!*ok*!!

When I mentioned the bumpers, I referred to the YouTube tutorial above. Basically, from the tutorial when you do a track cut, two bumpers appear automatically. Then you weld and get the switch stand automatically.

All of the Track Rules used in the tutorial have "bumper" track. They do not appear when the Track Rule is "bumperless". The Red "square" over the joint appears but not the bumpers (because it is bumperless track).

The cut and weld is working fine in FRCE (though without bumpers), but I can´t get the associated animation to work.
FRCE is indeed bumperless. Same for FRCE with RWA track rules. But I tried that in Lakeside. When you cut you get a nice pair of bumpers and the stand vanishes, but when welding back the switch stand does not appear (just the tracks switch). !*hp*!

The other stuff I don´t understand yet, is why when welding in FRCE with Lakeside rules, I was getting the manual stand at the beginning (though with no animation) and now I only get the switchman stand (which as I said, for Lakeside it´s like automatic dispatch switches).

So, every route seems to have their own "cravings and caprices". !*roll-laugh*!

That is like trying to get a PhD degree on tracks, without knowing the basics of tracks laying. !!bang!!

Finally, I solved the problem. !*cheers*!
These very same high (tall) manual switch stands are also in Sherman Hill. This is a route most of us have in our collection.
I could not animate the stands from Lakeside (don´t know the reason), but the SH stands which are identical, work fine.

My objective is replacing all manual switch stands in Portola by these ones. It´s a big job.
I have already changed most of the FRC extension distant signals (block controllers) to one-face type, That will allow me to design scenarios where a train pursues another train located two blocks ahead.

I also want to know if there is a need for some additional lights in the yard. I need to do some more research.
I have also changed two manual switches in the west entry of Portola from manual to automatic (in the main track !*hp*! ).

I don´t have plans so far to touch Oroville, but maybe Keddie.

P. S.
The track cut did not need any bumper at all (as indicated in the tutorial). You just cut, the old stand vanishes and then weld and the new high stand from the loaded track rules displays. Then you have to manually reposition the stand.
