GP40 Travelbytrain support?

Unread postby petergbw » Thu Nov 09, 2023 6:57 am

Dear Guys,
on Oct 31, I bought the GP50 BN and the GP40 pack by travelbytrain. The GP50 is working fine but not the GP40 pack. Here nearly all keyboard commands do not work. Especially the brakes are at 23% and I cannot realease or increase. WIth the mouse pointer in the cab the brakes work. Furthermore there are textures for the class lights and numberboards missing. I have redownloaded the pack several times with no positive effect.

I conrtacted travelbytrain on Nov 1 via e-mail, got a request for photos which I send to them. Since then I didn´t hear anything and got no response on two polite reminders.

Has anyone this pack and can share my experience? Do you have the same experience with a not existing support?

Greetings

I do not use Keyboard instructions so cannot comment. I purchased the GP40 on release day and notified them (same day) that the bogie spring hangers are missing , with pictures of the GP40 and of their GP35 as comparison. I received an email a few days later saying that they had referred it for investigation. Since then nothing although last week I asked for an update. It's disappointing to say the least and does their reputation (which in some quarters is shredded anyway) no good,

The keyboard commands are working here at least on the CP version. I did not check them all. Are they that way on all of them?

@Buzz, thank you for your reply. The CP-version is not working either. I have read the input mapper-file. It should be the same for all versions with the exception of the CR-version. This has an own called "GP40X_....". I have also compared the GP40 input mapper file to the GP50 input mapper-file. It is nearly identical. Unfortunaltey swapping and renaming the GP50-input mapper to the GP40 does not work.

Anyone know how to place spring hangers onto the trucks of the TravelbyTrain GP40s? They are missing from all trucks and although I have reported this (with pictures) to TbT it appears to have gone unheeded. Their website must either need a lot of maintenance or they have "dun a runna" whatever the problem still exists. DTM had a similar issue with their BL2 (I think it was) and they resolved it in matter of days not months.

This is probably a far fetched idea, but maybe ask DTM if they could supply a spring hanger object and add it as a child object to the Travel by Train trucks? Just a thought.

I just reached out to Martin about TBT status and he replied he is hoping the website will be back up and running before Christmas. If I understood correctly the GP40 is fixed and will be available when the site returns.

I have been waiting for the release of the non-dynamic units. I considered buying the regular pack while it was on sale, but was also concerned about the missing hanger/customer support. I like the products they have, and hope to see them up and running.

The update released today has "restored" the spring hangers as well as cured the texture problems of the original release.

The Rock Island engines are in the last red livery before the Blue swept thru and they are numbered as the last batch of 20 ordered (4700-4719). The weathering job is very convincing of the filthy state the Rock's engines were in at the time. Hopefully at some time there will be an as delivered Maroon with silver stripes (on the nose) version, or the yellow nosed Maroon with non "italic" road name. We live in Hope (much better than living in Jeopardy). Happy New Year everyone (when it comes).
