Bob
I think that Buzz was saying he has used that software for years withOUT the problem and suggesting using it instead of Avast.

For anyone experiencing sound problems this information from DTG may be helpful.

I wondered about that. Advanced System Care is not an antivirus program so I would hope that Buzz has some other antivirus program (perhaps Microsoft Defender) on his computer.

IObit offers a range of security and system optimization tools, with its most expensive plan including both the antivirus and tune-up programs. Advanced SystemCare, IObit’s name for its optimization suite, has more features than your typical tune-up program. It comes with an internet speedup tool, real-time tuneup, anti-tracking features, and more.

The antivirus engine is also pretty good, clocking in at around a 90% malware detection rate in my tests. However, IObit is missing some important features: there’s no VPN, no firewall, and no parental controls.

Buzz,

I just wanted to make sure that no-one read your post and assumed they could replace AVAST with Advanced System Care and still have anti-virus protection.

As I mentioned, I have used IObit's Advanced System Care for years for system optimisation. Until this latest problem with Train Simulator Classic sound I was also using AVAST free version and Malwarebytes Premium for anti-virus protection. Following the sound problem with AVAST and TSC, I've removed AVAST and now run Microsoft Defender and Malwarebytes Premium.

I found one way around the whole Avast issue is to run Avast in passive mode and it seems to not affect things. That way you don't have to uninstall it. Hope this helps any Avast users like myself :D

It seems to me that the solution to this problem, apart from removing AVAST or AVG or putting them into Passive Mode every time you want to run TS, is to get AVAST/AVG to change whatever it is that is affecting the TS Classic 64bit sound.

I have the free version of AVAST and the only support I can get is access to a collection of FAQs, none of which address this particular issue.

If someone reading this thread has the sound problem and the paid version of AVAST or AVG, please raise a ticket with AVAST/AVG support to encourage them to change the problem process.

If you are running a version of Windows then you already have Windows Defender on your system and it only needs to be enabled. The problem with free antivirus is the lack of support. Many people recently have uninstalled Avast/AVG because of this 64 bit sound issue and enabled Windows Defender if they want a free antivirus. This is not the first time Avast/AVG has caused issues with a version of Train Simulator. Rather than try to fix a product with issues, would it not be better to uninstall it and enable Windows Defender and still have an active antivirus running while playing TSC? This way there is no need to put anything in passive mode to play in 64bit.

I had a paid version of AVG years ago and when it started giving me false positives. My contact with them was very unsatisfactory as they seemed of the opinion it was the software makers issue not theirs so I just quit using it. I used Avast for a while and then it started misbehaving with of all things QuickBooks so out it went. I still swear by Iobit products along with having Defender active and no issues for years.
