I just wanted to make sure that no-one read your post and assumed they could replace AVAST with Advanced System Care and still have anti-virus protection.
As I mentioned, I have used IObit's Advanced System Care for years for system optimisation. Until this latest problem with Train Simulator Classic sound I was also using AVAST free version and Malwarebytes Premium for anti-virus protection. Following the sound problem with AVAST and TSC, I've removed AVAST and now run Microsoft Defender and Malwarebytes Premium.

I have the free version of AVAST and the only support I can get is access to a collection of FAQs, none of which address this particular issue.
If someone reading this thread has the sound problem and the paid version of AVAST or AVG, please raise a ticket with AVAST/AVG support to encourage them to change the problem process.
