Rotate on Z Axis/show XYZ on gizmo

Is there a way to rotate on the Z axis so I can get this trestle to stand up vertically? Also, somehow I turned off the X, Y, and Z on the gizmo, how do I bring them back?

Hi,

It's unclear to me from your screenshot if that's a static scenery item or a loft that you're trying to rotate. If it's a loft, I think you may be out of luck as only the blue "dial" is active on the rotation gizmo for loft items and the only way to tilt them, as far as I know, is with the gradient tool. Which probably won't allow for going fully vertical but I haven't tried that yet. Though maybe you can still achieve a "close-enough" visual effect with the elevation tool and a very steep angle instead of straight up.

If it's a static scenery item, then the magic is all in the control panel on the bottom edge of your screen:
-- switch to object-oriented manipulation (the "house" icon, the world icon is for world-orientied coordinates) which will align the gizmo's arrows/axis with the object's 3D mesh xyz
-- hold down Ctrl key while using the gizmo to enable rotation snapping (ideal to get exact 90° rotation, for example)

Cheers,
Michael

Thank you, it is a linear object/loft item. I'll try playing with the gradient.
