Rotating Switching Driving Aid

Unread postby mindenjohn » Wed Mar 16, 2022 7:13 am

To assist me when trying to build scenarios I often screenshot the track plan (in multiple shots) so as to have at hand origins and destinations. It is easy when it is an East-West track plan but is more onerous when North - South due to the screen height/width ratio. Does anyone know of a way to rotate the "Switching Driving Aid" track plan screenview? (so as to get more in each screenshot).

- take the screenshot using Alt-Print Screen
- open a viewer such as Irfanview
- hit Ctrl-V to paste the screenshot
- rotate the picture (hit L or R in Irfanview)

Thanks Chacal, I can handle it after I have the screenshot (I used to edit a magazine (electronically) so picture handling is not the problem) and I even invert it so its black on white for easier viewing. The problem I have is that on N-S routes with a lot of track switches you get so little in the screen to take a shot of whereas E-W you get a lot more. I want to be able to read the markers as it is these I need to reference for scenarios.

Try going to "Display Settings" in Windows. Go down the page to "Scale and Layout", and change the "Display Orientation" to "Portrait", It will make the screen difficult to read, but it might work to get your screenshot.

Also with Irfanview, you can create a panorama image combining several screenshots into one image either vertically or horizontally.

Thank you Gentlemen.
I might rig up a spare monitor mounted in "portrait", I tried the setting idea and found it very confusing and the mouse didn't know where to go! but the concept I might be able to adapt.
I need to the markers to be legible or the whole thing is useless to me so stitching screenshots is not really an option as even if I could do it I couldn't print it out large enough to read. Again thank you.
