Can anyone tell if Marc's version of Tehachapi will be completed?

Really?

I am sure you would love driving this in TSXX...this is MSTS run at maximum settings, Marc's Tehachapi update (which was an enormous improvement on the original 3DTrainstuff's route - Scalerail, trees, ground texture, new structures etc.), stock from Belanger Locomotive Works (BLW).

Route pretty well the same...from 3DTrainstuff's own promo...

...and talking about green...here's a surprise...

I don't think that worked quite in the favor of what you meant it to..

That green is far more desaturated than whatever DTG came up with. Whatever example Gary posted is also a lot less than whatever DTG did, too. In places, the route looks more like a forest floor.

Ah, the trouble is you probably aren't thinking what I was thinking.

The discussion was about the superiority of the MSTS route over that from DTG - the last image was an ever so slightly ironic throwaway...

However, to enter into a discussion about MSTS textures - I spent years on super detailed texturing of 3 or more MSTS routes - anything you saw as a MSTS texture on a non super detailed route was severely generic - to the extent that you would have hard lines between different textures and there really was a one texture fits all approach (or maybe 12 - I think that might have been the maximum - so long ago now) - you will, however, notice the forest floor in the middle left of the Tehapachi 2 promo (it isn't really, it is just the way the sim treated shadows and different planes :D )

...but, there is always a but, if you want to see a stunning MSTS route straight out of the box, have a look at Marc's WP Feather River route - that really does knock spots of the DTG version (as good as it is...)

I suppose you recall the late in the game discovery of large resolution terrain textures that allowed for some incredible ground plane texture detail, then!

Sidebar to this thread since the whole thing is a cluster at this point.

The funny thing is, over at DTG's board, a few of the people who actually worked on the route shared some info about these textures, which gives you an idea of DTG's overall management in route building for overseas clientele.

Not only overseas clientele.

Purely as seen from their island view ;-)

Had any competent USA route builder been on that QA, the outcome might have been different, or not.

Anyway, I've read the route and stock have quite some errors in signaling, headlights, trains exploding in scenarios, QD consists etc., so an update is to be expected once DTG has sorted everything out.

Kissing DTG's butt *!lol!* *!lol!* *!lol!* wow! what an insult *!lol!* . Your post is about as pointless as it is inaccurate. If you look you will see that I linked in the thread where Marc talks about his plans !!*ok*!!

Maybe you need to spend a bit more time reading. If you look down the referenced thread you will see a post from me, and I quote...just in case you miss it...

Here it is...

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=23399#p265487

For a bit of background I have supported Marc and 3DTrains right back to the early days of MSTS - spent a lot of time on his forums - spent a lot of money on his excellent products too, including the initial release of his Tehapachi route...have you bought it?

I thoroughly recommend it :D

Just ask some forum members how many angels can dance on the head of a pin and the conversation disintegrates into useless mush. Please let's stop hurling thunderbolts and let's speak of facts. I remind all members that we should be pleased that the good folks at DTG still support this sim and once again no one forces you to buy anything so if all you have to say is to bitch about everyone and everything please take it somewhere else.

When did the white cross go from the Loop, is it just missing or am I looking in the wrong place?

Hey I have a suggestion to all of you screeching about the route being too green. Switch over to Fall. Guess what? It ain't too green anymore.
