Here's a playlist for my video series on this locomotive. Included are 3 in-depth tutorial videos that will show you all the skills you need to operate this in-game, and recordings of the 4 career scenarios, run in full manual mode, showing that it is possible to get a perfect score without the assistance of the automatic personnel scripting:
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWcH ... iYjAHXVC-b

I've got an entire series of videos planned for this locomotive, including:
X4000 delivery run westbound (Cheyenne to Laramie, Evanston to Ogden), 2 parts
X4000 maiden revenue run eastbound (Ogden to Evanston)
East and west over Sherman Hill, 2 videos
X4014 Cajon Pass excursion
X4012 Port Jervis excursion (pending location to turn locomotive at Port Jervis or nearby)
Many other scenarios....

Is anyone interested in making a patch to add road names and graphics to the rolling stock released with Mike's new 4000 series? The only road name included is Union Pacific. These cars have good slack action and the weights, loaded and unloaded work well. I would like to use them in other scenarios. I believe a few of you worked with Mike to make these for the release.

Smokebox Big Boy/4000 series: To quill the whistle, use the Spacebar + Enter if your keyboard does not have a Return key. Do not use the Enter key on the key pad part of your keyboard.

!*brav*!

Definitely need a fleet of mixed road cars. I know licensing can be a pita, but looks odd only seeing UP roll past. There are so many possibilities. It is just unfortunate that I am a dumbas and no help to anybody *!rolleyes!*

I'd like to keep everyone updated on the Big Boy post-release activities:
1. Some bugs are being investigated and I expect an updated hotfix to be available this week. I'll post it to Dropbox as soon as it's ready, so that if it's urgent for you, it can be downloaded and installed while we wait for DTG to release it on Steam.
The bugs addressed by the hotfix are:
Derailment of very long consists - a change to the coupler damping should solve most of the derailment problems. There are some special cases where the derailments are not the fault of the loco or rolling stock but appear to be a bug in TS that happens with very long trains that follow a route determined by the Quick Drive dispatcher. It's not clear if there is any solution for those. You might just have to select shorter consists for particular Quick Drive scenarios if the longer ones derail going through switches.
In free roam, prevent the steam chest from filling before the loco has been selected by the player (this bug was causing the free roam loco to lurch forward as soon as the reverser was moved forward).
Remove the obsolete pop-up message about switching between "easy" and "difficult" modes.
Pilot truck wheel rotational speed corrected (they appeared to be rotating too quickly).
Chuffing sounds between 10 and 40 mph.
Live injector sound attenuation outside the loco.
2. I'm also making a series of short tutorials to explain some of the nuances of the loco in more detail (the brakes in particular). However, I also recommend FanRailer's tutorial videos - well worth watching!
Thanks to everyone who has already purchased the loco, and to the rest of you, I hope you'll consider adding it to your collections

If anyone's got 4 and a half hours to kill, here's the 4000 making its inaugural run east over the Wasatch Grade in early September 1941 with a 3810 ton PFE reefer train behind the tender drawbar.

Adding a couple of box cars in some other road names coming up. This is using the GEOs from the Smokebox BB pack. I'll get them packed up tonight.

I have tried unsuccessfully swapping out the RSC Big Boy for Smokebox's one on a couple of Sherman Hill Big Boy scenarios using TS Tools but when I try and load the scenarios I get an OOM. This was with the HD version. From memory, because I haven't done this for quite a few years I think that you can also swap locos and assets in the TS editor.

In the TS editor, place the new Big Boy near to the old one you want to replace. Then click on the driver icon above the old Big Boy while holding Shift and drag the icon (invisibly) over to the new Big Boy. When you let go of the mouse button, the icon and all the instructions behind it should now be attached to the new Big Boy. Now all you have to do is delete the old Big Boy and move the new loco onto the consist.
