A friend of mine was wondering what the difference was between the permissive and the restricted signals. Both seemed to be the same, but we were wondering if there was any difference to them as far as functionality. Thanks for any help.

There are versions for NS and NORAC (not visible on the screenshot),
in both cases the scripts of the "permissive" and the "restricted" signals are not the same !

Here the info I've got from the blueprints :
Code: Select all
smm_griswold_H232 T0 P.xml
   name:      RCAP: NS_GSW H2/32T0P
description:   Griswold RR signal, 2 Head 3 over 2 Aspect Signal, 1 Link to Track, Permissive.
   script:      RCAP\NorthAmerica\RailNetwork\Signals\Griswold\US NS Post 2 Head P
   geo:               smm_griswold_p2p

smm_griswold_H232 T0 R.xml
   name:      RCAP: NS_GSW H2/32T0R
description:   Griswold RR signal, 2 Head 3 over 2 Aspect Signal, 1 Link to Track, Restricted (no signals beyond last link).
   script:      RCAP\NorthAmerica\RailNetwork\Signals\Griswold\US NS Post 2 Head 1R
   geo:         smm_griswold_p2

The signals and scripts for NORAC rules are named with the same scheme, just "NORAC" instead of "NS" : smm_griswold_NORAC_H232 T0 P.xml / smm_griswold_NORAC_H232 T0 R.xml

Unfortunately I am not good with eastern signals,
all I can say the aspects should/must differ.

Models may look the same in the editor, but you do not see the naming of the lights inside the model. These react according to the scripts.

Do a test with a standard scenario, that is the only way that works.
