So in regards to the bantering about a display screen, honestly... if the difference had not been mentioned... I would not have known the difference. Is this new knowledge going to affect my purchase decision. Absolutely not.

But as an almost innocent community bystander here, maybe the developer group and DTG should consider bringing BNSFdude / Searchlight Sim into the development group. They have already proven their expertise in modern US locomotives, and their sounds are beyond reproach. What a great opportunity this would be, and I for one would gladly pay a premium for the route if their expertise and content is included. Just something to consider.

Have you ever heard the saying "Too many cooks............................"? !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*! I'm sure this is going to be a wonderful addition to the sim. I am excited about it.

Well looks like it ain't today, the only reasonable thing that could've released today worth noting !*roll-laugh*!

Here's to tomorrow, or next week(s)

To me and my TS lower class-ness, the route looks superb. The stock is secondary imo, itd be great if it were something totally new and worthy (generalization, not this instance per se) - and the possibility to buy a route alone sans rolling stock at a lower price would be great but alas - said as one of the most useless phrases of my fellow millennials "it is what it is"

Im all in on this one

The names alone behind this product got me hot and bothered !!howdy!!

There are lots of relative newcomers who would not be interested in just a route with no scenarios and with no rolling stock there would be no scenarios. Most of us who have been in the game so to speak for a while could care less about the rolling stock since we have tons of other stuff but I know plenty of people who are really into scenarios so the guys making routes want to interest as many folks as possible.
!*cheers*!

2 options would suffice. 25/30$ish no stock, full price with?

I am a fan of scenarios although, i get no joy making a qd consist or freeroam - to each their own.

Buzz... I've been spoiling the broth all on my own for many years now. I'm just really glad to see so much development going on for this sim. In a short period of time, we've had the Clinchfield route released, a U36C for that route, a CN route, and now this CSX route.

Looks like it could be a good contender. Always looking to diversify my CSX fleet, especially with some SD40-3's.

Let me put it this way: You have enough time to study the scenery on this route -- if you're running a light engine! You'll probably want to pay some more attention to throttle and brakes than the scenery when you have a heavy train in tow.

The WM was apparently built on a budget, so where bigger railroads might have dug a cutting or built a berm, the WM instead tended to follow the profile of the terrain. The result is that even outside of the mountain section, you get a frequent up and down of short and steep climbs and drops (gradients of over 1% on the "flat" parts of the route, and double that across the hills).

The route is unsignaled Direct Traffic Control territory. The only signal protected interlocking is CP Town in Hagerstown, where the NS Lurgan Sub crosses. AI traffic has been set up with the help of Wayne's ingenious scenario signals (see the Columbia Valley Pacific's documentation for more details).

Cheers,
Michael

An additional article, detailing the operations (and history) of the route will be appearing this week at Dovetail Live.

As Michael well outlines above, the "saw tooth" profile of the route, with frequent 1% grades even in farmland countryside, makes for operations that require attention on a regular basis to both throttle and brakes. The crossing of the Blue Ridge (South Mountain) has a 1.5% west slope grade and 2.0% east slope grade on which Western Maryland often used helpers. As shared in the present article at DTL, there are 20+ active line-side industries along the route, including massive aggregates quarries and processing plants at three locations. Yards are located at Hagerstown, Gettysburg, and Hanover. Short line interchanges exist at Porters (York Rail, ex-WM), Hanover (York Rail, ex-PRR), and Gettysburg (Gettysburg & Northern, ex-Reading).

Looking into York Railway, on the G&W website it appears to show the York Railway has running rights between Hanover and Porters, is that right? Looks like we'll have a place to run some G&W paint then.

A sawtooth profile certainly makes for some interesting running, like on the Montana Hi-Line route.

Yknow I wasnt going to buy it, but then they threw in that GP9. Now hear me out, theres something about that GP9. I mean it doesnt really change the route any, but i just....idk it feels so special that they would just throw that in like that.
