From the looks of things that is the independent brake and if you put a generic f7 looking train brake stand directly in line with it I'm sure it would be fine. If you really want detail I might be able to give you some help. P.M. me Ryan if you're interested and I'll see what I can do.

I just wanted to let everyone know that this project isn't dead.

I've decided to rebuild just about everything from scratch because I felt it could be done better. I've acquired a better blueprint and have gotten off to a good start so far.

-The frame and cab are completely new. As well as the radiator vents, radiator fan on top of the long hood, exhaust stack, the start of a new handrail and the headlight housing.
-The long and short hoods are from the old version, but re-worked. I've gotten the curves the closest I could get them to how they should've been from the start.
-I'm going to try and re-model as much as I can from scratch with better detail.

There's still a lot more left to do, but I'm happy with how it's coming out so far. I'm going to take my time with re-doing this model, so that I don't get burnt out modeling this.

Glad to see this project being resurrected and make to look as realistic as possible. The current version we have is great, but hope this one has a better cabview. When it comes time for the audio files, I will reach out to an Alco Diesel Electric and Field Service group on Facebook. Hopefully, one of them will have ideas of where we can find operable RS3s to get recordings from.

The Midwest Railway Preservation Society in Cleveland operates an RS3. You can even pay to run it during the open houses.

Not much has changed, but I'm going to take my time with it.

- The first of the new things added are the grab irons on the long hood. I'm not sold on the positioning and design, but it's not bad for the first iteration of them.

- Next is the door on the long hood and the the flip-down plate to go between locomotives.

That's all for now. Thanks for Reading!!

Here's another RS-3M that CNW fans might appreciate

For anybody wondering, I've shown a very early version of this on August 03, 2016 and didn't really go anywhere with it

I think it's safe to assume that my modeling has come a long way since I've started this project! *!greengrin!* *!greengrin!*

Here's the current state of the RS-3:

-The most noticeable changes are the air reservoir, the start of the correct fuel tank, cab windows (although they're not finished), and the louvers on the hood access doors.

-Less noticeable is the grab iron next to the sand fill hatch, horn, the number boards have been updated, and the emergency fuel shut-off button cover.

I don't think I've mentioned that this is a model of the Phase 1b RS-3, built with the GE RD3 Turbo. Phases 1, 1a, and 1b built before September 1954 had them, that's the reason for the exhaust stack being oriented lengthwise on the body. Phase 1b's were also built with ALCO 510 Water-Cooled Turbo-Supercharger which had the crosswise stack. All of the Phase 1 RS-3s were eventually retro-fitted with them.

I do intend on eventually modeling Phases 1, 2 and 3 with there differences.

Here are some in progress pictures of the 4th or 5th(?) attempt at modeling the frame. Those weird corners are so frustrating to try and model, but I think I'm close to getting them as accurate as I can. It's not perfect, but it's the best I've modeled it so far.

I've updated the no short hood RS-3m up to my current standards

There's still plenty left to do, but it'll eventually all come together.

This is how it looked back on May 24, 2018 (The last time I posted anything about it)
