That looks marvelous! I will be running it very often in addition to the repaints I have planned for it. *!greengrin!*

Thanks, I have decided to call it an AAR 40ft 10' 6" Boxcar to distinguish it from my original since several builders built very similar cars in the late 40s and early 50s.

Hi MaineLines,

WoW - Great !!*ok*!!

Since you are still working the 3D model. Would it be possible to have 2 versions of the same basic model with one very fundamental difference - on one, the autonumbering could be placed on its traditional spot at left of doors and on the other version, the autonumbering could be placed, let's say, at low center of the right side of doors?

Now the cream of the cream for repainters : *!greengrin!*
1. provide a child-decal, corresponding to the surface area located at either side of the door. (again optional)
2. Would it be possible to have the autonumbering as a child object (does that concept work in the actual TS version); therefore we could place it anywhere !*hp*!

Just my toughts and dreams.

Currently the mapping is pretty straight forward so I don't think in general you will need full side decal panels. There will be a second texture for the Brake wheel and possibly the running boards to give them transparency. As for auto-numbers, until someone figures out how make them work as child objects, the best bet is for you to send me a texture for the car that indicates where the number panels need to be and I send you a new GEO file with the panels adjusted accordingly.

Looks promissing, looks like I'm going to have fun repainting, !!*ok*!!

Will your final texture file be a 1024x1024 pixels resolution?

I was thinking about the possibility of 4096x4096. It seems to make logos and other decals sharper in the end. Either way, it shouldn't be hard to do regardless of what resolution he decides to make it.

It's pretty easy to do. All the JR/SS cars are all 2048x2048 and that stuff seems to come out pretty crisp. The only thing I don't like about the large format is the loading time in the save.

I love seeing rolling stock getting such a makeover. 3D design has come along way over the last decade. Even TS2020 looks better from its original days in 2011.

Still have auto numbers and LODs to do. This is the car with a 1K main texture. I'm not sure 2K is needed.

I have to agree the 1K texture is crisp and clear. I feel 2k is excessive for a 40 foot car. Seems like a lot of work for a graphics card to render a whole scene of these in 2k. Great work!

Mainlines - the soft curves on the car end and the door and brake wheel are so good. This is a great car sir.

Thanks, I always liked that scheme but apparently it didn't age well so was very short lived.
