RW Enhancer Pro??

Postby cnbalasub » Tue Nov 19, 2019 12:14 pm

I have a question about the route with RW Enhancer. I find this product, RW Enhancer did not solve the track moire especially with the switches. I wonder if I purchase RW Enhancer Pro and will that solve the problem with tracks moire or not worth to get because this will not solve the problem. Let me know about this.

I believe Moire patterns can't be solved in any way in computer graphics. May be in systems with more power processing.

Sorry for the repetition. My fingers in combination with a tablet do not work as they used to do.

It does not solve it but it does help mitigate it slightly with the updated FXAA filters which align FXAA's processing resolution with the base game resolution.

The issue with MOIRE can only solved completely by an engine which better resolves points which are close together. Some track texture sets such as those available with ScaleRail were created in a way which cuts down on it drastically. I recommend swapping the tracks on your favorite routes with some like Scalerail which better render the switches since it is unlikely the core graphic engine of TS2020 will be updated again.

You could also try to brute force a solution by running at a higher resolution than your screen outputs and having it scale down through downsampling. Search the internet for 'nvidia downsampling' for some guides on how to enable it. I've done it before but have found the default 2x2 SSAA to be the best setting after the FXAA fix that is included with RWEnhancer.

As a last note I would not buy RWEnhancer for this change alone as it is also available at UKTrainsim for free here:

This is interesting because after he asked the question I went one of my routes and almost none. Then I shut RWEnhancer off and still nothing. You know where I'm going, the route I was testing has scalerail. !*roll-laugh*!

Buzz - you are right about ScaleRail and they are way better than what we have in Railworks. I wonder if the program of RW_Tools can do the job to change all tracks from normal to ScaleRail. That would be nice if we can do or maybe someone already did this with RW_Tools.

Here is a guide on how to do it with RWTools. It is not click of a button, but it really isn't too difficult if you read step by step

It is not only with tracks.
I also experience Moire patterns with some cars with multiple vertical reinforcements like hoppers.

You wont be able to fix it completely due to the poor antialiasing of the graphic engine in TS2020. The only way to fully remove it is to disable Dynamic Lighting since that then uses a different graphics API. Disabling Dynamic Lighting causes lots of other issues however.

At the end of it the best solution is a bit of personal opinion but I think the 2x2 SSAA at a high resolution and RWEnhancer provide the best solution possible currently.

I am currently using FXAA+8xMSAA.
I have been trying various SSAA anti-aliasing´s but I always resign to it, because I prefer those extra fps. But I will try 2x2 SSAA again
I have been using your environment enhancement, but in TS2020 it seems it has been changed as I notice different "clear skies" (better I would say).

The following screenshots are at Keddie (FRC) using JointedRail hoppers. You can see the Moire Patterns in that route tracks are not too strong. They appear in curves.
However the hoppers roofs have pronounced Moire. Also it iss visible in the vertical sides of the hoppers, specially when the train is moving.

As Buzz would say "Rivet Counting". I hardly ever view the wagons that I am pulling. I do most of my driving outside the cab looking forward from the front loco.

Trev, the thread is about Moire patterns displaying in Train Simulator tracks and other graphics objects. It is not about watching train cars. **!!bang!!**
