The shadowing and everything else look great, yes.

What I'm trying to show, and have been critical of since day one of this announcement is the mountains.

They are only four miles away.. Why are they pitch black in the late afternoon with the sun facing at them?

This is 7pm in the evening and they still aren't pitch black.

If I compare with an original Photo of the Barstow Yard, I think styckx is not that wrong.
This needs some fixing until the release.

Yep. I checked out other photos also.

This was my main reference photo. Early evening. Long stretched out shadows.. Probably about an hour or two of daylight left.

Took a second look at them. It is a bit weird that the mountains are so dark when the sun is facing them. Hmmm, hopefully that'll be fixed soon.

Personally, before I could make a judgement call on the differences between RW2 and RW3, I would have to see some shots with the sun more on the camera side of the mountains.
The above shots to me look like the sun is not shining straight on the mountains but more either behind or to the side.

What you are seeing is the fog colour/distance which was set up by a coder when he was doing the lighting.
All of these settings can be changed.
The end result may be different once someone has had chance to look at the values and update content.
