While TSW isn’t well suited for heavy freight ops, it does pretty well for commuter services so I’m looking forwarding to see how they do with a diesel commuter route.

That screenshot looks horrible.

Clear skies, but the lighting and shadows have this dull and soft look to them as if it was cloudy and around noon, the highlights are overexposed and the colours are washed out like it was some picture that sat and got bleached out. It had better not look like that on release or there's literally no reason to justify a new game engine to make everything look worse than the legacy.

And to really critique it, they claim this game to "feel the detail" and make a 20 poly signal head that looks like this? You have got to be joking, and this is only the tip of the iceberg that I could get ripping on, like tiled textures on the walkway roofs of the station..

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with Anthony on this one. When I say it in the video, it looked horrible. I don't understand how they can make a route look worse on a better engine. It makes no sense. The ability for DTG to be this lazy and this incompetent is beyond me. It is not hard to make a good looking American route, it really isn't.

They really went backwards with lighting.. even stock, the Caltrain route for TS' lighting was pretty brilliant.

This looks washed out, dull, desaturated, and a huge step backwards.

They probably photoshopped it to make it look like California Sunshine.

Be glad it isn't the usual doomsday gloomy overcast and rain DTG favours for their British routes. *!lol!*

That new TSW2020 leader pic looks like the end of the world is upon us.

It really does not look very impressive. I was hoping for a route with more freight options and would have even been happy with a remake of the Cajon Pass. !*not-ok*!

Like I said in other postings, it is difficult to find out what DTG really wants with TSW.

They obviously want to sell the game to the broadest group of customers.

If their market research, user polls etc. indicate stop-and-go-and-back passenger routes are wanted, and the sales figures are confirmative, then we'll get more passenger routes obviously.

The game isn't well suited to long freight trains for performance reasons apparently, and tedious switching of industries isn't perhaps what the casual player wants or has patience for?

I expect the new USA route announcement in about 3 months, but given the latest trend, a new train DLC might be released in the meantime. CalTrain does run other locomotives and passenger cars, do they?

Cajon Pass is BNSF, and out of the question due to licensing issues. What other licenses DTG hold that might enable substantial freight operations is unclear.

The free update is only to the base game and any DLC you might own.

The new CalTrain route is an extra buy, but perhaps a packaged deal might enable you to complete your collection at a discount.

When the August 15 release date nears there’ll be more information.

TSW 2020 coming August

When will DTG fix the anti aliasing?
It looks absolutely terrible.
FXAA makes every texture flicker a bit & there is almost no difference with using no antialiasing.
TAA has less overall flickering, but more on your train.

Soon (tm)

I believe we are stuck with the UE4 rendering routines. DTG already had and still has to incorporate many train sim specific features into the UE4 source code. Hence they'll probably stick with 4.16 for a while more until there is sufficient time and money to recompile to the latest UE.

If you have a powerful GPU you can set screen size to more than 100% which gives you multi sampling AA of sorts.
I keep Max FPS locked at 30 to have some headroom of GPU power for MSAA.
