Are these pictures of RW2 models in RW3 mode, or have they been converted?

I don't understand what you mean? Models don't need to be changed for RW3.
All the rollingstock and the routes you see are already in RW2.

So in the FAQ it states:

"We also plan to upgrade existing DLC over time to take full advantage of the new Train Simulator 2012 technology."

I was wondering if these engines have been upgraded already, or if they are RW2 version. My suspicion is they are RW2, in which case they look great, however if "upgrading" entails removing stencil shadows and adding features through the LUA then someone may have jumped ahead and converted a few, and I would like to see a comparison between them.

I think this refers to upgrading the locos with projecting lights, the rain-effect and the cab sway. - Alltogether things you can't see in these pics.
The stencil shaddows will just be ignored in the future. No need to remove or upgrade them. !*salute*!

I think we will see the new weather effects in the video today. !*YAAA*!

Right click on the original image, should get a dialog box, choose to Set as Desktop Background, then "stretch" to make sure it fills the screen. !!*ok*!!

I don't see any shadow cast from the rails, which is a little bit disappointing, I was really hoping that would be included. Oh well, everything else looks great!

Want to throw this in: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=76103

It's interesting to see how the trainz-people cope with the new Railworks. It's the most-discussed topic at the Auran-Forums.
Please don't start a discussion about Trainz vs. Railworks here as they did.

Some people really seem to like the new update, others point out the advantage and disadvantages of both sims.
I just find it amusing to see that some other people over there can't accept the major improvment Railworks is undergoing.
