Railroads' most important assets: lobbyists

Grab a rock, have a seat, and talk about the real world of trains.

Aren’t there enough concerns over automation already following the Boeing 737-MAXX problems without more ?

Very intelligent comment. Ain't that the truth. There are so many obvious things that can be done in all areas of transportation to increase productivity and reduce costs without attacking the crew sizes everywhere.

Ha! You talk like 96 grand is some rich man money. In NYC that is pay check to pay check.

I've got 25 years in NYC Transit and turn 55 in July, Carolina's here I come! *!lol!*

They call me a Bus Maintainer because if they called me a mechanic I'd make double the money per hour. It's weird how 4,500 buses get out on NYC roads every day without one mechanic. *!rolleyes!* *!rolleyes!* !*not-ok*!

In the grand scheme of things compared to the people that tell us what to do, it's middle class.

Is that something we are now supposed to be ashamed of? I'm damned proud to be middle class.

There are many fine places in this Country where they are not trying to suck the blood out of everyone who works for a living.

You're quite welcome. What bothered me most is the extent to which people aren't aware of how the system works, and how this leaves them vulnerable to misrepresentation and misinformation. The net result is that most of us end up in the prison of two ideas, hopelessly divided against each other. It's better to be informed than to be inflamed, and to the extent anything I've learned can help others be better informed, I'm only too happy to share it. It does wonders for the blood pressure, and may even result in more accountable government.

Didn't they try this single man crew nonsense in the Powder River Basin, and pulled the plug on it?
