Welcome back Tim. I was getting worried that we had lost you. Good to know you`re back. Like gtrtroger said, hope you`re getting better.

Glad you're somewhat better. From experience, remember that no one takes better care of you than you.

This reminds me of the quote "If I'd known I was going to live this long I'd have taken better care of myself" which is usually attributed to Mickey Mantle but I first heard it from Phil Harris on either Johnny Carson or on Dean Martin's show. I guess that dates me.

Picking up where I left off - at or around Nacco Junction.

Looks great! About 60% of the trains I got on headed south towards Guernsey came out of North Antelope, same for on the return trip north with the empty. There was a decent sized elk herd that would migrate through along the creek. There was also a mountain lion that called one of the culverts home, which brought on a little bit of paranoia when out lining the crossover switches within the mine, especially in the middle of the night. Several times arrival and departure of trains were delayed due do blasting at the mine. One of the pits was right over the hill next to the tracks. At one point you could see the boom for the big dragline peaking up over the top of hill. Even when you couldn't see it, you could here the creaking and squealing of the cables and pulleys as it was digging in the pit. There was constantly rumors of the tracks in the mine being relocated because they were in the path of a future pit. One big downside to going to that mine, was there was no cell service at the locations where you generally stopped the train to swap out with the RailLink operator. Sometimes the ball would get dropped and there would be no taxi to pick you up, and no phone service to call the dispatcher. Sat around there once for 3 hours waiting for the taxi to take us back to Gillette.

Thank you Tim! It's a bonus to hear about your personal experience as an engineer in this neck of the woods, it helps bring the route alive for me.

Thanks imnew! It's slow going for now but I'm managing to get in an hour or two every day.
