We’ve also implemented other fixes/additions as part of the core upgrade, which we will talk about at a later date.

Interesting sentence. I wonder what the fixes are, there are plenty to be made. Nice to see them still adding stuff to TS even though TSW is out.

Can't pretend like I'm not excited for this. It will be interesting to see if any mega long routes are produced because of the 64bit expansion.

The MRL is over nine hundred miles long and granted only one hundred ten miles give or take has scenery so far but it loads and runs just fine.

I don't think route length or scenery density was/is the problem. When the game is properly programmed, it will do automatic garbage collection, i.e. release from memory those tiles and assets the player train has left behind, making room for the tiles yet to enter.

The problem with scenarios crashing due to low memory is the trains and their textures. Many detailed routes can only handle a very limited number of trains, and they have to be composed of simple stock, otherwise the game runs out of memory and crashes. Lowering detail settings sometimes helps, but this affects locomotive cabs and their instruments too.

Even though DTG have promised some other updates to the game engine core, besides 64 bits memory management, one shouldn't expect miracles from a game engine 10 years old.
Without proper parallel processing using all the CPU cores available, there will be no noticeable performance increase.

We'll have to wait till October 12 or thereabouts before we can start testing the 64 bits game.

Wrong route. The referenced one is one being developed by the community which covered over 900 miles of MRLs Subs.

A new folder has now been automatically installed from Steam into our SteamApps\Common folder called Steamworks Shared, this update contains applications and other bits for DX, OpenAl, vcredist, etc. The Brits guess/consider it to be for the new 64-bit version, so, best not to delete it thinking you can save 130mbs from your hard drive........ !*roll-laugh*!

Does that mean TS19 is going to be an entirely separate program? !*don-know!*

Hmmm, what do ya mean by a separate programme? I guess it will just update what we have installed already to TS2019, I can't see any new folders and pathing structures being changed to accomodate this new 64-bit version, it should just overwrite the files already in situ, hopefully........ *!!wink!!*
