Going away on vacation

Unread postby artimrj » Mon Sep 03, 2018 5:04 pm

I am on vacation from the 8th to the 16th. Heading for Florida, got a few nice inexpensive houses to look at in the Villages. Any uploads until Friday will be posted before I leave.

Last year I was there during a hurricane. The Villages has bubble over it. It was the only place in Florida that had electricity, thanks to underground wiring. Some leaves blew around, lots of rain. Next day all the lawn maintenance people came out and blew all the leaves to the street and some street sweepers went through and cleaned them all up. Like nothing ever happened. Was amazing. I helped my aunts bring all the potted plants in and furniture and lawn ornaments. 3 of their neighbors were out of town and we cleared up their yards also. Very friendly place.

Funny you should say that, Bob, but, only last weekend I was with my Niece, who now lives in London, we were all in a restaurant having Sunday Lunch locally and she was working in the Turks and Caicos Islands when Hurricane Irma hit land last August/September and she showed me all her photographs of the devastation, palm trees in the hotel swimming pool, etc, etc, it was unbelieveable, and now she has the experience of being in one, anything else now seems rather mundane, a good start to life in her early twenties, nothing much seems to phase her now.

Take care in sunny Florida.

Being in Vietnam made everything mundane for me...

I have always heard good things about The Villages. I may be heading in that direction some day myself. The property taxes and insurance cost here in South Florida are ridiculous. Happy house hunting Bob.

Well, I get tired of the heat myself, I live in southern Alabama and at the moment my AC in the car is out, AC wires burnt up and have to be fixed.

Should be home about 5 pm today. No problems with Florence here. Just normal Florida weather. Been a great trip. My boss called me to tell me there are Steelers tickets waiting for me on Sunday.
